Shielding-when will it end?

Any ideas? My letter says that I will still need to shield after 2 doses of the vaccine and that there'll be further info later but does anyone have any predictions? Last time it was March to August.

It'll be when the region you live in becomes tier 4 (maybe) or tier 3 (definitely)

But even then it's a good idea to stay at the precautionary end of the guidance, and to remain diligent about distancing.

Yes that's what the letter says. I will not be fully shielding once I've had the vaccine. I will abide by all rules but will do what is allowed as I did after shielding was ended in August.
The vaccine may not offer 100% protection but it should reduce severity of illness. That's a level of risk I'm prepared to take.

Also shielding. Am inclined to be cautious but also greatly looking forward to feeling safer.

I assume it will be until they lift the lockdown and go back to tiers

You were still advised to Shield in Tier 4. That's when Shielding started up again for my parents, when their area went into Tier 4.

I don't know what the government will advise this time, but Shielding should continue until the infections, hospitalisations, and deaths are around the level they were at when Shielding was paused on August 1st 2020.

If the government toughen the restrictions that date might be earlier this year. If they loosen them based on political pressure rather than scientific fact, the Shielders might miss the summer entirely.

With the 7 day average currently at 40,000 for cases and 1200 for deaths, we have a long way to go to get there.

And I think if we want the same results as Lockdown 1 then we need to have the same rules as Lockdown 1.
