Confused about self isolation

Hancock isolating till Sunday because of the app

Is it 5 days now for a close contact?

At the moment, I won't even stop to talk to a neighbour but if a contact from T&T - I don't use the app - means 5 days, I can relax a bit.

Thanks.

It's down to when the 'contact' was. So I had a notice on 2nd January telling me to isolate for 2 days - the contact had been on 24th December. So his contact must have been 5 days ago or whatever - maths not my strong point!

Oh thank you

I remembered talk of them reducing the period and I hoped they had done that but I guess not!

It totally depends, my DC was sent home from school to isolate but only for 6 days as the positive child hadn't been in school for the previous 4

It depends when contact was. If there is a delay in taking a test or in getting the result back then the contacts might not get told to isolate until several days have passed and therefore reduces the remaining isolation time.

They have reduced it from 14 days to 10 days.

Its been 10 days for quite a while. I think OP thought it had been reduced further to 5 days

Yes, there were mutterings about it and I thought perhaps it had happened. My bad, thanks everyone.
