Supermarket delivery didn’t arrive!

But no message to say why or anything. It was due at 5pm yesterday and still hasn’t arrived. This has never happened before and slightly annoyed as alternative is now to visit a supermarket as local shop is shut on Sundays. Grrr. One of my local shops that I use for a specific thing is shut due to covid but there was an alternative but it is not open Sundays - DH said not to bother and to add it to supermarket shop and now it’s too late. Just aaargh! I’m not CEV but am CV so DH was trying to minimise touchpoints which has now backfired. It’s a good job I can afford another supermarket shop as we don’t know whether they will still attempt to deliver today. Supermarkets have helped in this crisis but I think charting for delivery passes and then not delivering is taking the somewhat.

I don’t see the point naming and shaming here.

@Splodgetastic

And thanks for the sarcastic responses
Oh the irony Grin
QuantumQuality · 17/01/2021 08:59

It’s not to name and shame (it’s a supermarket, not a person who can be shamed), it’s that different supermarkets do things differently and there might be better ways to contact them. EG Iceland give out the store manager’s mobile number for if you can’t get through to the store.

This happened to me with Morrison's - they messaged 2 hours after it was supposed to arrive to say a van had broken down & gave me a time for the next day. I rang the next day & was on hold for 75 minutes then got cut off. If turned up an hour after the time they'd given me for the next day - I refused the shop & it took 10 days for them to give my money back. Absolute rubbish service & i I'll never use them again despite the discount!

I hope you sort it soon OP the lack of communication is not on!

Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:18

I might refuse it if it arrives as I have no way of knowing whether it has been refrigerated overnight.

You could say that about any delivery. I’d be amazed if they left a shop of food on a van overnight and didn’t care about the temperature it was kept at.
bookworm14 · 17/01/2021 09:28

We had this with Sainsburys the other day. Turned out they had dumped it in the communal hallway of a building round the corner with a similar name to our building. No phone call. Thank god someone in the other building worked out the delivery was for us and came round to tell us where it was.

ThePricklySheep · 17/01/2021 09:29

Hang on, if you’ve had an email today saying it will be delivered on Saturday then why do you think it’s coming today?

You do know that its freezing overnight in the UK at the moment?
Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:33

Well, exactly, @ThePricklySheep, unless they have a time machine... We are still trying to get them on the phone to clarify what time as we would like to go out for a walk.

If it turned up 1 hour after the expected time, why were you on hold for 75 minutes? Surely you’d have hung up when it arrived and hour late?
Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:34

@Soontobe60 Maybe up north it is, but not down here and certainly not freezer temperature, which is -18C

What does it say on your account?
Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:35

We are calling. I can’t tweet in case they are a client of the company I work for.

So check the frozen stuff when it arrives and just decline that if its defrosted. (Or even if you suspect it may have defrosted and then refrozen)

Can you track it? I know you can on some supermarket sites.

Why would you do that, unless your whole shop is fridge and freezer items it would be madnes to send everything else back and then go out and re-buy it surely
Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:39

Refrigerated stuff might have been kept in a van overnight and the van might have been inside - how do I know? The phone and chat doesn’t seem to open until 10 but we will keep trying.

OP posts:
Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:40

@Ch3rish It is mostly fridge and freezer Stuff apart from two tins of soup and a bottle of ketchup. I have vegetables delivered in another way.

I'm bemused by this - Wouldn't you know if Sainsburys is a client of your company?

Surely you can tweet and ask where your shopping is? You don't have to call them a bunch of cunts Shock

BigusBumus · 17/01/2021 09:40

Christ this is such a non story. 🥱

Splodgetastic · 17/01/2021 09:41

I don’t see why I should do any of these things to be honest. They should have delivered it yesterday or let me know what was going on. I have things to be getting on with like work and batch cooking

Ginfordinner · 17/01/2021 09:42

Ours was cancelled due to snow, but at least they rang us to tell us. I wasn't charged either.

I feel your frustration.
