countersign passport pics during this pandemic

I need to extend my passport but I cannot see any of the usual people to countersign the photo because of a combination of SD, lockdown and WFH. I only leave the house for shopping, doctors and walks.

I googled but couldn't find anything. Are there any special covid rules about for this which makes things less complicated?

If you do it all online then you just input the countersign person's email address and they can do it without actually seeing you. You take your own photo too. It's very easy.

Could you post the photos to whoever will be countersigning them and they sign and post them back to you? (I assume they have known you for requisite amount of time and can confirm it is your image in the photos?)

Do you need a countersignature to update the photo? They can cross check with driving licence for example.

I have also DC who don't drive. so will need a countersigned pic. But the online option looks perfect!

Yes you do need a counter signature still.

I've just updated DD's passport. It's so easy - via gov.uk site.

I've also been a counter-signatory via the online method and the email comes through immediately.
