Children being Vaccinated

Hi it’s a long way off & I appreciate very early days but would you get your child vaccinated if it’s ever offered ?

There won't be "herd immunity". That's the whole point. The best we can hope for is low circulation and those most likely to suffer badly to get a less serious version - CMO has been very clear on that

There are significant legal and ethical issues around this. From the evidence we have at the moment, the majority (and I accept that some children are ECV but that is the minority and a decision on vaccination for them made on a case by case basis) of children suffer little to no effects from Covid. If the vaccine comes with greater risks of side effects than Covid, I cannot see how it would be possible to gain valid informed consent from a caregiver to vaccinate a child. It is not ethical to perform any kind of intervention/treatment or test unless it is clearly in the patient's best interest and clinically justifiable/necessary. Societal benefits do not and should not trump that.

I am neither "yes" nor "hell no" on this in exactly the same way as I am neither for myself.

Both I and my DC have been fully vaccinated for the usual childhood illness to date so I suspect that once this has finished its usual long-term trials then we will go with it, but not before then.

Yes definitely. DS has an over active immune system and his body plays all sorts of tricks when he catches anything so we're very pro vaccine for him. (As he is, he's 16 and I wouldn't stop him)
