Children being Vaccinated

Hi it’s a long way off & I appreciate very early days but would you get your child vaccinated if it’s ever offered ?

Honestly, not meaning to offend, but you all are nuts to vaccinate your children with any drug approved this year.

  1. Not enough is known about the virus and how ‘exactly’ it transmits (2m rule, masks, isolation... no proof any of this works effectively)
  2. Children are the least affected at low risk group
  3. No vaccine has been proven to ‘stop transmission’ Or prevent anyone catching it
So... why vaccinate yet?

This is madness! Just wait until they tell us more. Too little information being given and frankly don’t trust this gov!

Vaccine won’t keep our beloved parents safe from our children.

Lastly, long term effects of vaccine are unknown.

By all means take it yourself, but leave our children alone. They are already safe.

Any scaremongering that schools will prevent children from returning without vaccine in nonsense and any attempt would bring about mass legal action

Just my view...

Userzzz · 14/01/2021 21:49

No

MoirasRoses · 14/01/2021 21:54

Yes, happily. My children will have all vaccines.. that said, I’d rather they concentrated on adults & maybe older children first. It really isn’t impacting younger ones & seems unnecessary at the moment.

As you probably know, a vaccine for children has not been approved yet.

As you must realise, reading the thread, and using a little imagination, there are children, (not a huge number, but some of their parents are on this thread), who are medically vulnerable and who have shielded for much of the year, who are pretty desperate for news of a suitable vaccine.

We are hypothesising for a start, there is no vaccine for children. But your first point doesn’t worry me anyway, vaccine reactions are extremely rare and is usually happen in the first day or so. Most vaccines also stop transmission and it’s highly likely this one will, Chris Whitty said that the other day. But to answer the question, yes of course I would.
Thefeep · 14/01/2021 22:25

No

CloudPop · 14/01/2021 22:48

@FourTeaFallOut

No. We'll all be back to normal long before they have a vaccine trialled for children.
As in, the virus is just going to disappear?
Sorryusernamealreadyexists · 14/01/2021 22:56

No

FourTeaFallOut · 14/01/2021 23:06

No. But there will be a sufficient decrease in hospitalisations and deaths and a sufficient increase in the inoculation of the elderly and the vulnerable to move to a much closer approximation to normal.

Normal being that there are viruses that circulate and cause a threat to morbidity and mortality to those who are vulnerable.

I expect by the times that there is a jab for children the schools will be open and most people will have returned to work and adults who have been shielding will be released to face the run of the mill viruses the same as always.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/01/2021 23:17

I am undecided about this question.

Suppose I will assess the situation when the time comes. I am hoping there will be no need because the virus will have faded out enough by then.

LastTrainEast · 14/01/2021 23:23

@GintyMcGinty

Only if it was recommended.

I don't see why it would though as it rarely affects children.

Because they can catch it and pass it on.

Also the next variant could be far worse.

MRex · 15/01/2021 21:38

frankly don’t trust this gov
There are 193 countries in the world of every political stripe, and every single one of them of all types has put out citizen information about covid-19, as well as their scientific team views from looking at vaccines. There is literally only North Korea who have claimed to have no cases, and even they enacted a range of "emergency measures". Would you like to try again while being a bit more specific and rational this time? Maybe include the specific scientific qualifications you have?

MRex · 15/01/2021 21:39

That was for @BringOn2021, who thinks "you all are nuts".

My child is CEV and very likely to need hospital treatment. In the past he has been ventilated for a common cold.

I hope a vaccine is one day available for children.

CaraDuneRedux · 15/01/2021 21:54

Hell yes!

DS has asthma.

HairyToity · 15/01/2021 22:01

In our house we have all tested positive for. covid. DH and I were rough, and both children asymptomatic. DH and I would both agree to be vaccinated. We wouldn't bother with kids.

CarrieBlue · 15/01/2021 22:05

Yes

Lourdes12 · 24/03/2021 11:04

No way

Lourdes12 · 24/03/2021 11:08

If they say kids can't go to school without the vaccine it's the end of our freedom. I would take my kids out from school. Young women who are planning to have a family are refusing the vaccine. What about our children who wants to have a family when they grow up

Sandsnake · 24/03/2021 11:10

What on earth has wanting to have a family in the future got to do with being vaccinated?

5lilducks · 24/03/2021 11:12

No. Not until a few years have gone by at least..

5lilducks · 24/03/2021 11:12

(Probably not at all)

HSHorror · 24/03/2021 11:16

Lourdes, viruses can can infertility infertility anyway... Like mumps.
Both dp and i were infertile. (Pcos) and undiagnosed.
We do know covid is linked to t1 diabetes in children. Now that is something to avoid.

Both the vax and catching covid seem to affect periods temporarily. But if not vaxxed most kids will likely catch covid.

SD1978 · 24/03/2021 11:22

Yes, because we want to travel back to the UK. main worry is that the side affects for adults seem to be quite common, I do worry if that would be much worse for children

Titsywoo · 24/03/2021 11:27

I don't think a lot of people understand how we are going to come out of the other side of this. Herd immunity needs to be achieved one way or the other. The virus is very very unlikely to just decide it is done and bugger off. Herd immunity can be achieved through letting the virus run riot - which we have decided against - or through vaccination. We are going with the vaccination option. So the majority of people need to be vaccinated. Yes it will take time to tweak and adjust for new variants but if lots of people don't get vaccinated it is going to be an issue. So yes my kids will get vaccinated.
