Children being Vaccinated

Hi it’s a long way off & I appreciate very early days but would you get your child vaccinated if it’s ever offered ?

OP posts:
Cornettoninja · 14/01/2021 15:24

Once it had been licensed for children absolutely.

I’m not sure how they go about trialling it’s specifically on children though. Would it be a case of, like with medication trials, children are recruited through identifying who is most at risk from the virus and offering them the vaccine being looked at?

whatswithtodaytoday · 14/01/2021 15:28

Yes I would. I'd actually think about the trials if asked, though would be cautious as he has eczema.

I'm sure in time Covid will be added to the usual childhood vaccinations.

Whattheactual20201 · 14/01/2021 15:39

Yes yes my daughter hasn’t been to school since last December.

SnowFields · 14/01/2021 15:42

Yes, absolutely. I would also hope the vaccines have been around long enough by then that those with concerns will feel reassured and it’ll be the vast majority who are vaccinated so that the pandemic becomes a thing of the past.

RhubarbTea · 14/01/2021 15:55

No.

sherrystrull · 14/01/2021 15:59

Absolutely.
When they've been through all the required tests.

EarlGreywithLemon · 14/01/2021 16:05

Yes! I’d be queuing up for my daughter to have it. And she isn’t clinically vulnerable.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/01/2021 16:08

Yes.

Angel2702 · 14/01/2021 16:10

Yes I can’t see an end to school disruption of kids keep spreading it between them. Endless isolations and periods of parents unable to work.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/01/2021 16:14

No. We'll all be back to normal long before they have a vaccine trialled for children.

FourTeaFallOut · 14/01/2021 16:14

Well, not all of us, sorry ofwarren. Most of us.

HazeyJaneII · 14/01/2021 16:37

Flowers for all of those whose children are medically vulnerable...the light at the end of the tunnel seems pretty distant, and there is very little information for us.

Angel2702 · 14/01/2021 17:15

There are trials that have started now for 12-17 year olds and as we keep being told this will be a problem every winter it’s more likely they will vaccinate kids especially high school age at some point.

The current trials for 12-17yrs olds are recruiting in the normal way. I had an email about signing up my children via a DNA service I use but it’s not trialing in the UK yet.
Cornettoninja · 14/01/2021 17:59

Thanks @Angel2702, that’s interesting to know.

boon · 14/01/2021 18:30

Yes 100%. Oxford are trialling on 12 and over and I read that Pfizer are also running trials in USA.

DipSwimSwoosh · 14/01/2021 18:32

No, I am not worried about them getting the virus.

HazeyJaneII · 14/01/2021 18:34

Are you sure about the Oxford one? I can see articles about Pfizer, but not Oxford.
GintyMcGinty · 14/01/2021 18:37

Only if it was recommended.

I don't see why it would though as it rarely affects children.

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 14/01/2021 18:38

Yes, especially if it helps make schools safer for everyone.
DDs best friend has a CEV brother. She could only attend school on irregular days last term (periods of time in which she didn't go home, but to other relatives, then quarantine for a bit, home with her parents and brother for a bit, then the cycle restarted).

Suzi888 · 14/01/2021 18:38

No.

Jellington · 14/01/2021 18:45

Yes once it's approved for use in children.

MaryShelley1818 · 14/01/2021 18:51

As the majority have said - if approved and recommended then definitely yes 👍

Jessuk86 · 14/01/2021 19:04

Yes if it gives long term immunity if it’s a yearly thing like flu then no as they are unlikely to get it badly anyway

Bing12 · 14/01/2021 19:28

Yes!
