Hi there

I just wondered whether anyone feels nervous about any potential long term implications or side effects from having the vaccine bearing in mind the quickness that it has got through the testing / regulations etc.

Everyone sounds like they’re happy to have it but I can’t help but have some reservations about it!! 😢

Nope. Given that it’s had more money and time thrown at it in the history of vaccines, I think it’ll be fine. Don’t forget they didn’t need to start from scratch.

Shitzngiggles · 13/01/2021 22:42

Not nervous at all. I'm getting mine Saturday and I'm actually quite excited.

CookEatRepeat · 13/01/2021 22:42

Nope

tatutata · 13/01/2021 22:44

Vaguely, mainly because I'm young so it doesn't seem worth it. But at this point I'd be quite happy to be rogered by a donkey if I could have my life back, so I'm certainly taking it.

MrsWildermac · 13/01/2021 22:44

Nope, had mine in the first week of roll out, no side effects aside from a sore arm.

FourTeaFallOut · 13/01/2021 22:45

No. No reservations, at all. Looking forward to it.

Orgyofsausages · 13/01/2021 22:45

I'm nervous but I.I'm going to have it regardless.

Giraffey1 · 13/01/2021 22:46

Nope. None whatsoever.

Hobbes8 · 13/01/2021 22:46

I had mine before Christmas. Arm was a bit sore the next day but no other side effects. They’ve delayed my second jab, but I imagine it will be much the same.

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 13/01/2021 22:46

No not at all worried.

It has gone through all the normal tests. Just parallel to each other in some cases. Also quicker to be approved because had more scientists combing over the data.

The oxford vaccine for example uses existing technology that has been used in other vaccines.

Basically if you are ok with having the flu jab each year or your baby having their vaccinations then you should be fine with this.

Nope. Can't wait.

RuggeryBuggery · 13/01/2021 22:47

Had it yesterday (Pfizer one)
Slight thought in the back of my mind about the speed of approval but risk is lower than getting covid I reckon!
All fine apart from a REALLY sore arm today!

applespearsbears · 13/01/2021 22:47

Had mine this week nothing but a bit of a sore arm for a day. The Pfizer vaccines was tested globally in a trial of over 43k people ( with placebo) and has decades of experienced vaccination development and knowledge behind it.

LetItGoHome · 13/01/2021 22:47

Nope. Had mine today, booked in for 2nd dose march. Feel relieved if anything. Hope now it continues to roll out quickly.

NewIdeasToday · 13/01/2021 22:48

Not at all. I am very confident that it has been thoroughly tested by excellent scientists.

bert3400 · 13/01/2021 22:49

Nope not at all. What does frighten me is the CV19 . I wasn't scared in the first wave but this new variant is horrific.

littlemisslozza · 13/01/2021 22:49

No. Vaccines don't really have long term effects. People who peddle the discredited autism myth are responsible for making others think they do. Short term are things like a sore arm or a mild fever so no big deal. Tiny possibility of a larger reaction that they can usually screen for - e.g. checking for known allergies before they're given.

This may appear to have been developed quickly but never has so much time and money gone into one goal. So many companies and scientists working on the same thing and lots of money thrown at it. Normally they'd be working on all sorts of research and development for different vaccines and treatments for diseases. There is a new flu vaccine every year, depending on what they predict the strain will be, they are used to this. Covid-19 is a type of coronavirus, like SARS, for which so much work had already been done. They didn't start from scratch.

saffire · 13/01/2021 22:51

No.

GretaSheen · 13/01/2021 22:52

Yes. I'm to have mine next week and I am very concerned and in two minds. I have Epilepsy, Multiple Sclerosis and I have had anaphylatic shock.

I've read all I can but it isn't making me feel any better.

Lottieis44 · 13/01/2021 22:54

I just hope it is effective, not so worried about adverse effects.

Yes OP. I'm concerned about the vaccines. It seems to be have become socially unacceptable to express doubts though.
Loubylou79 · 13/01/2021 23:00

I shed a little tear when I had mine today. So grateful to receive it. How lucky we are to have access to a vaccine that will save so many lives. Salmonskinjerky - it’s not unacceptable to express doubts but they have to be reasonable doubts and not something you read from google

Have the arranged to give you the oxford one then? It is less likely to give a reaction from what I have read.
DramaAlpaca · 13/01/2021 23:02

No. The only apprehension I feel is about the length of time I'll have to wait before it's my turn to get it.

My elderly parents got theirs last week and I am so relieved.
