I'm guessing after Easter. What does everyone else think?

I think there is no chance of them opening after half term, I also think Easter but only some years, like what happened in June.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2021 14:30

I also think Easter.

DownWhichOfLate · 13/01/2021 14:31

Where did he say it? I think September Shock

TramaDollface · 13/01/2021 14:31

I can’t see then going back before Easter or maybe even may

JanuaryChill · 13/01/2021 14:31

Any recent source for this, OP?

FlatteredRhubardFool · 13/01/2021 14:31

No shit, Gav.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2021 14:31

I'd hope that all children get to go back for a few weeks before the summer holidays.

TramaDollface · 13/01/2021 14:31

@DownWhichOfLate

WHAT??? Shock
Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2021 14:33

I don't think it will be September. Boris said schools will be the very first thing to reopen and they aren't going to keep pubs and restaurants shut until September.

Bizawit · 13/01/2021 14:33

What?! Ffs, enough vulnerable people should be vaccinated by then. Children need to GO TO SCHOOL 🤯🤯🤬

DownWhichOfLate · 13/01/2021 14:33

@TramaDollface - worse case scenario? I dunno. Maybe after Easter.

WankPuffins · 13/01/2021 14:34

I've always thought until Easter.

Mousehole10 · 13/01/2021 14:35

Realistically I think Eater. Restrictions should start to be loosened by then as the top 4 priority groups will have been vaccinated.

SophieB100 · 13/01/2021 14:36

This was in the Commons earlier. He was repeatedly pressed for a re-opening date and wouldn't commit to it being after half term. He fudged the question, basically. So, he didn't say they won't open after half term, but he wouldn't say they would either.
Basically, (this is my opinion) it is far too early to say - they'll look at the figures in Feb and decide where we're at then.

user1497207191 · 13/01/2021 14:37

Gav states the blindingly obvious. I'd be surprised if they go back after Easter. Maybe they will start to go back, a few years only at first, but it wouldn't surprise me at all if schools don't go back as normal until September.

Littlewhitedove2 · 13/01/2021 14:37

Schools will be first back. If they are not back until September then what- complete lockdown until September? That didn’t happen before and that was from end of March!

user1497207191 · 13/01/2021 14:37

That depends on the teachers and their unions, as most teachers aren't elderly/vulnerable so won't have been vaccinated.
tatutata · 13/01/2021 14:39

It's a fucking joke, but I have no idea what the answer is either. I'm just really sad for my kids. My 5yo cried on his zoom call today, he was completely overwhelmed.

He hasn’t said then. Ok good to know rather than op
tatutata · 13/01/2021 14:40

@user1497207191 yep that's my bet too. Along with trying to scare people into thinking their kids are at risk.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 13/01/2021 14:41

It won't matter. Once the elderly and vulnerable are vaccinated the rest of us will just have to get on with it. If the community rate of infection is low enough then you can't refuse to go to work until you've had a vaccine.

FlatteredRhubardFool · 13/01/2021 14:41

My dd was jaw to the floor when I told her at breakfast that she needs to be prepared to be at home for all of this term. I said they might get to go back earlier but if they are prepared for the whole term at home then they have chance to get their heads round the idea.

Jrobhatch29 · 13/01/2021 14:42

I think phased from easter. I feel so sad for my kids

Firenight · 13/01/2021 14:44

I told my kids all term when it was announced. School are pushing them hard and getting into the groove is needed.

Mousehole10 · 13/01/2021 14:44

@user1497207191 that’s a bit ridiculous isn’t it? People can’t just refuse to work. Well they can but shouldn’t be paid. What if all supermarkets workers also refused? Once the most vulnerable are vaccinated there is no reason for restrictions to stay.
