Vulnerable shopping hours

I've never used these before as I wasn't sure they applied to me. I have rheumatoid arthritis and often need to use a walking stick so pushing a trolley is difficult, as is carrying a lot of shopping alone so DD comes with me to help. However with the clampdown on shopping alone I understand that's not possible.

I've two questions - would I be considered eligible for vulnerable shopping, and would DD be able to come with me if I was?

(I know people will tell me to shop online but I can't get a slot for love nor money, and need a backup anyway for top up shopping and pharmacy visits.)

What precautions do they make in the vulnerable shopping hours?

Is it something to do with numbers allowed in? Do they properly BAN people who don't wear masks whether exempt or not, which would make it safer for others?

I think you can ask your supermarket if you can take DD with you. I bet they will be fine about it.

My local Tesco does, not sure about anywhere else. I only know because I went on their website to check opening hours - I thought they were a thing of the past too!

How old is DD? If she cant shop for you on her own, I think you should take her and shop together.

You would need to read your Tescos particular rules for vunerable. Is it just less people in the store that would help you? In which case go for it.
