So yesterday my DH got a positive test I went and got tested also and it came back negative, I've woke up this morning with a cough and a sore throat is it possible my test was wrong? Do we still need to isolate from each other? Thanks!

Why did you get tested if you didn't have symptoms at the time?
It may not be that the test was wrong but that you were still incubating it when the test was done so you tested too soon

This is so frustrating. You didn't need a test. Now you have symptoms you do. Get a retest and please pass the message on that you testing too early was a waste of time (and money).

I phoned my work (NHS) and they said to go get a test as I was feeling a bit achy?

Yes you were tested too early but it does also appear tests, even the more accurate PCR ones can be wrong. My friend had classic Covid symptoms after one other in the house caught it but tested negative. Ended up in hospital, test negative. Then clots on lungs and very poorly and only on fourth test was it positive. No idea why

butterfly193 · 13/01/2021 07:44

Thank you @Sunflowergirl1 hope your friends ok! I just went with what my manager said but lesson learned were all isolating anyway so won't be going anywhere!

Yes you were tested too early. Probably didn't have it then. But you probably have it now. Nothing wrong with the test itself.

@butterfly193
Thanks for that...several months now and is slowly improving. Has Long Covid with clots still in lungs.

A nurse told her that a lot of people come to hospital for tests unrelated to Covid and these symptoms are found...they hadn't a clue they had ever had Covid
