How long for results?!

Hi

I wondered how long others have waited for results recently? I'm currently on 3.5 days and counting... Sad

Mine (tested on Monday) came back yesterday evening so super quick.

frustrationcentral · 13/01/2021 11:53

@DownWhichOfLate

5 days to get a negative result. Isolating the whole time. Infuriating.
It really is. This isolation has pretty much almost tagged onto a previous one where DS got a positive result. Apart from the two days in the middle we've all be isolating since the 27th Dec- resulting in me now missing two weeks off work Sad

I might have Covid currently , but apart from a cough I have no other symptoms so could also easily be a simple cold or even my asthma..

Just a nightmare

Our house were tested recently at a drive through centre at 11:30am and had our test results around 6pm the same day, so under 7 hours.

DS had a postal test mailed at 3pm, tracking had it at the lab at 9pm and we had a result by 1pm the following day. That was 22 hours.

DH had a drive through test at 4pm in early December and had a result by 7am the next day.

They don't dick around here. Results are very quick.

AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 13/01/2021 12:18

The 7 hour wait was 4 people, negative.

Postal one at 22 hours was a positive.

The drive through one (15 hours) was negative.

I think I would be very annoyed at isolating for an unnecessary 5+ days just to get a negative!

frustrationcentral · 13/01/2021 12:19

I've just called to try and chase up, apparently it's in the system but there isn't anything they can do until tomorrow Sad when it can be forwarded to the investigation team.

I work in a nursery school, can you imagine what could be happening right now if they were waiting to close the doors if I'm positive?! That's several days people could be walking around with it. Fortunately Nursery isn't impacted as I haven't been in work for weeks

@frustrationcentral with a delay like that I'm not surprised Covid is spreading so much!

MeowMeowLikeACow · 13/01/2021 14:06

DH got tested 10 days ago and still nothing. He chased it but that went nowhere. It's a good job we can both work from home and had no contacts to trace as we haven't seen anyone! Angry

frustrationcentral · 13/01/2021 14:07

Exactly! At the rate we're going by the time I've got results, track and trace have got in touch with me and then tracked any contacts I could easily be 7 days post symptoms starting. As it is luckily my only contacts are those who live with me who are obviously currently isolating!

A bit of a disaster isn't it?!

OMG!!!! Shock

MeowMeowLikeACow · 13/01/2021 14:08

Sorry, that was a typo. It was 19 days!

frustrationcentral · 13/01/2021 14:10

The thing is I wouldn't feel so bad about work if I felt rotten so would have been off Ill Covid or no Covid, but I don't! I have a bloody annoying cough but I could work with it in normal times. It's a newish job too, working in early years so I haven't been in work for nearly 4 weeks due to school holidays and subsequent isolations! Sad

OP posts:
Vargas · 13/01/2021 14:10

Mine were both less than 48 hours in early Dec (first inconclusive), but friend's was 6 days by end of Dec.

How do you track? I had to organise a postal test for the MIL, went in a postbox yesterday afternoon, never had to wait more than 18hrs for a drive in result and partner can't do her care until she gets her result
AvoidingNextdoorNeighbour · 13/01/2021 16:03

@Whatever9999 postal had a code on the box that you could put into the Royal Mail tracker online I think. Or possibly the .gov site? It could only tell us that it was delivered to the testing lab or whatever it's called. After that it was a waiting game. But just a short one luckily.

frustrationcentral · 14/01/2021 17:15

Update...

Still no results Sad. It's been referred to late investigations team today, apparently I should hear in the next 3 days. If still no results I need to just finish my isolation!!

Are they going to pay my two weeks wages that i will have missed?! I did say I wasn't impressed, but the woman on the helpline couldn't really say much

So utterly fed up now Sad

OP posts:
Chickydoo · 14/01/2021 20:54

I've been waiting 48 hrs now for results. I don't expect I will get anything this evening now.
If nothing materialises tomorrow I will either get another test or try to find out what's going on. Chest feels quite tight this evening. I would like to know one way or the other.

frustrationcentral · 14/01/2021 22:37

I'm tempted to get another test done Chicky, but what happens if I get a delay again? Will I have to isolate past the date of the first test isolation? I'd really like to know but can't risk taking any more time off!

OP posts:
Chickydoo · 15/01/2021 13:24

Nearly 3 days now, still nothing.
I think it's got lost.
I will chase tomorrow if I hear nothing today.
If no luck I will go for another test tomorrow

Chickydoo · 15/01/2021 14:44

Chest feels so tight, want to know as DH wants to go to the supermarket. Need to wait & isolate until results are back. Very frustrating.
Off to find a supermarket online slot
Fingers crossed

Chickydoo · 16/01/2021 16:42

Still no results!
Getting ridiculous now

DebbieFiderer · 16/01/2021 16:48

31 hours and counting here, drive through, south east. Its DH with the symptoms (fatigue, headache, cough). The cough is getting slowly worse, but overall the symptoms are similar to a virus he had in Sept which tested negative.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 16/01/2021 17:07

I was tested at 7.30pm last night and got a negative result at midday today. This seems common in my area, very quick results.

frustrationcentral · 16/01/2021 17:24

@Chickydoo

Still no results! Getting ridiculous now
Have you phoned them @Chickydoo ? Are you at day 6 yet? That's when it can be passed to the investigation team

Still no results here Sad, I've given up now and will just finish my isolation when I need to. Frustrating as I'd just like to know if I've had it!

OP posts:
Chickydoo · 16/01/2021 17:39

@frustrationcentral 5 days here.
Have had another test, so will wait for new results.
Managed to get an online food delivery (Thank you Tesco) tomorrow, so can re-stock & wait for test no2 results. Feel a bit better this afternoon, probably been making a fuss about nothing.

DebbieFiderer · 17/01/2021 09:33

DH just got his (negative) result, not sure what time it actually came through as he's only just checked his phone, but it was less than 48 hours.
