I know nothing about it so would like to be informed.

I have been looking at the numbers in African countries and they are very low. Maybe because they have young populations.
BAME saying they won't be immunised.
I was listening to Eddie Nestor on Radio London the other night, an Afro-Caribbean DJ and he says this is a big problem in his community. He persuaded his Mum to get the vaccine.

Or maybe the low numbers are down to having a lot more sunlight than here. As others have pointed out, Vitamin D deficiency is serious even among elderly white people.

I think it’s probably more to do with not all deaths are recorded on Africa no one knows the true number.

Well black people do have a history of being used as guinea pigs by white people - it’s no wonder they’re apprehensive

Baileysforchristmas · 16/01/2021 21:34

Yes and then they think if they go into hospital they won’t be returning so leave it to late before seeking medical help

Livinginthecity · 23/01/2021 11:58

So why aren't they having the vaccine if they are more vulnerable?

@garlictwist

Surely if it were biological (ie due to skin colour etc) then India and Africa would have had worse outcomes than "whiter" countries but that's not the case. So it must be systemic.
Much higher levels of sun in those places, so I would imagine vitamin d levels are higher. Which comes back to vitamin d playing a role.

Think the article explains why..
