Hello!
I'll try to keep this brief.
My sister and her child both had symptoms before Christmas and tested positive on Xmas Eve.
They've been isolating together in DS house since then, DN barely affected and felt fine within a few days but DS has been gradually getting worse. She's not eating and barely managing to move from the bed to the sofa.
I've been taking prepared food down for DN (7) and trying to facetime and stuff, but she's spending days on end in front of screens and hasn't left the house (understandably).
I asked my sister to get DN a covid test, hoping it would be negative and I could go and get her. We are at the stage where there is a risk my sister could be taken into hospital and I'm basically "on-call" around the clock anyway - so I would rather just have the child with me and my daughters so my sister can rest properly.
Sister says that isn't needed (the test) as you only need to isolate for 10 days after getting symptoms?
I was a bit confused as what if the child is still positive and asymptomatic, or what if the child has caught it again etc?
I am basically the "last man standing" in our family now, so if I was to get ill our CEV elderly relatives would be without support, so it's important I don't get it (at least until my other relatives are over it and can pick up the slack).
So the Q: can I go and collect the child tomorrow without needing a negative covid test? And in the circumstances (needing to care for CEV) would you?
Thanks for any input!
