Hi all,

Just after some advice, I went for a walk with my friend for about 25 mins, prob at 1m distance who tested positive the next day. What do you think the chances are of infection?

@1forAll74

I read earlier, that some people had now got Covid and ended up in hospital, and they hadn't even been in contact with anyone at all for months, they had stayed home, some lived alone, and not mixed with anyone at all.
They have to have caught it from somewhere though.
HelloThereMeHearties · 12/01/2021 13:39

Quite high, as I assume you were chatting and not wearing masks?

HelloThereMeHearties · 12/01/2021 13:47

@MrsMiaWallis

It is difficult if you're walking and talking esp without masks both to stay the requisite distance apart which I understand was 1m outside pre new strain of Covid, 2m outside now. Especially if you're talking, dodging other people, keeping your dog away, pushing a pram

So don't do it!

Yeah, that's a really novel concept that not many people seem to be able to grasp...

Where did you read that? Is it an article you can link? How do they eat?
Ruby1991 · 12/01/2021 15:37

Good chance, but then again you never know.

I was working in a small office with someone all day and they tested positive 2 days later. I was also around a second person that same time who was also positive. I tested negative 5-6 days later

Palavah · 12/01/2021 15:40

It is impossible to go for a walk from your front door in London and know that you can stay 2m away from other people at all times, unless perhaps you walk between 10pm and 6am.

That's useful 23:54CoffeeandCroissant as the person who wrote it is a virologist

AlpineSnow · 13/01/2021 08:39

Hopefully you've not had symptoms yet op. I see it's day 7 now since contact.

I find this very hard to believe...how did they get food and essential shopping? Post etc“

Our food deliveries are left on the doorstep by ASDA delivery people. Completely contactless.
Post from post person?

Liftmusic · 13/01/2021 09:15

It’s perfectly possible to have doorstep food deliveries weekly and post is delivered through the door. I have a relative who has done this, Amazon prime and online shopping.

Gotta be Bill Gates and/or Lizard People. Wink

JengaJanga · 13/01/2021 17:59

Shielders can and have caught covid.

With Online delivery shopping and post there is still a chance you can catch it.
Small, but still a chance

But that doesn't mean you won't catch covid.

Almostslimjim · 13/01/2021 18:12

Pressed post too soon.

It doesn't guarantee you won't catch covid, it just reduces the risk

Eh? My comment was in response to someone ages ago who refused to believe someone saying they hadn’t left the house since March because they would have had to have gone to the shops. Absolutely nothing to do with catching covid.
Liftmusic · 13/01/2021 20:48

Oh it was you!

QueenPawPaws · 13/01/2021 21:00

@Ch3rish a lot of people shielding have been home throughout
I have, 10 months now. Post is left outside my door and sainsburys deliver my food or Morrison's free doorstep deliveries
I've seen my dad through a window and on FaceTime, and WFH

Almostslimjim · 13/01/2021 21:55

Liftmusic

I didn't say I didn't believe someone hadn't left home since March. My point was I don't believe anyone has had absolutely no contact with the outside world (and therefore won't have caught covid by "magic" as a previous poster seemed to imply!).

@R1234567, how are you? Did you stay well?
