Side effects

Had the vaccine yesterday and feeling rubbish today. Am pretty certain that it's side effects - aside from the sore arm I've got sore throat, sore head and a cough (not persistent) and just generally feel really tired. I'm also pretty wheezy and using my blue inhaler. No temperature.

I'm hoping that I feel better tomorrow and my question is should I just assume these are side effects and go into work as normal? I'm worried that I don't actually know that it is side effects making me feel rubbish and I have isolated today anyway just in case.

What do you think?

Keep up your fluids today and take some paracetamol and you should feel a lot better by tomorrow. I know a few people who have had the vaccine and felt really rotten after it, but it didn't last too long. One person I know actually went and got a COVID test but it was negative.

Thanks - am fully expecting to be fine and doing the fluids and paracetamol today. I just wondered if I should assume that it is side effects and carry on as normal. Am more than happy to do this.

Maybe check with your boss? I’m assuming you’re an HCP or carer to be getting the jab now, they might have a view on whether you should go in or not.

NHS admin. Could work from home perfectly well but manager is not keen.

Well with all I’ve been reading about the number of NHS staff off, I would hope that management would want to avoid any risk of infecting the rest of your team, however slight.

You could of course book yourself a test based on the cough.

I was told that up to 48 hours post vaccine you could get symptoms similar to covid. If they persist over 48hours to book a test.
A few people I know have felt slightly unwell with it.
However one of my colleagues started to feel unwell after it and blamed the vaccine and then tested positive as it persisted.
Hope you feel better soon and get a test if the symptoms are longer than 48hours after the vaccine.

This is what I'm worried about - we all wear masks, sanitise hands constantly and socially distance but you just never know. I'll see how I feel in the morning - if it feels better I'll go in and if not I'll give her a call and see what she says.
