Are trains safer than buses?

I have a Ds10 and I have having week on week off with him during covid - I have Monday to Monday then exh has Monday to the following Monday and so on and so forth.

Exh lives 10 miles from me. He only agreed to this arrangement on the proviso that I collect ds from his at the beginning of 'My' week and he will collect from mine at the beginning of 'his' week.

I don't drive, he does. So when he collects ds he goes in the car, I have to take him on a train. It's not a full train, mainly pretty empty and we wear masks. The journey is about 25 mins.

Is this safe do you think? There's also buses but I'd have to take 2 buses.

How do you think I can make this journey safer?
