Headlines on BBC this morning that those who can’t work from home to be given access to LF tests in 137 areas. I think this has potential to be a good thing as picking up just a few cases will stop the transmission from those people. However, I do have reservations. I can see people who potentially test negative think they are fine and reduce their compliance in following the rules. I can also see companies attempt to use the tests as a way to reduce/stop isolation periods just like has been put in place for secondary schools. This I feel is not a good move as the tests are not accurate enough. I assume (and hope) out there scientists are still working on a quick and simple test which is also cheap as testing surely is the way to keep covid controlled when cases finally reduce.
