We've stopped all non essential surgery, so just emergency neurological operations now. And all but our most experienced staff are moving to icu from Monday.

We didn't stop surgery last time, covid didn't really affect us.

I just feel so overwhelmed and helpless all over again.

Anyone?

I am sorry. It is awful.

I was redeployed in the 1st wave but managing to hang on in my "usual" role for now. This is because the durective is still to provide a much reduced service in my area. Unfortunately, the demand is as high as ever so it is very difficult.

I consider myself reprieved for now as the majority of my colleagues have been shipped off.

I have not recovered from the last time, tbh. I am stressed, exhausted, tearful and watching my hair fall out in handfuls. You have my sympathies, this is beyond shit.

Flyingwiththecanons · 09/01/2021 11:15

@AnyFucker thanks. It just feels never ending. I know this is going to be hell on earth but I think it's preferable to waiting around for an operation that might not happen.

I hope this time we don't have to stay in a hotel

You’re not alone. It’s our second rodeo.
One hour at a time. Literally, I take one hour at a time, or I’d lose it.
I stopped watching the news and I refuse to talk about work to friends/family.
AF yy to hair loss by the handful. That and the face falling off.
Apart from that, I do angry runs and I cut the dog’s hair.
Big hugs to all of you, I really hear you.

Flyingwiththecanons · 09/01/2021 11:18

@BuddhaAtSea I might have to take up running!

Voluntary redeployment being requested at moment. I think by next week if cases dont stabilise / go down, we will be stopping non essential services and moved to crisis areas of the NHS.

Bump

I think everyone is too fucked to engage with you

Pomegranatespompom · 09/01/2021 22:48

Sorry you going through this. It’s so stressful. My service will continue, it can’t stop, we’re all working extra / giving vaccines etc.
I think half of team will be redeployed next week. Some of the staff are very reluctant to help - I’m a bit sad about that.
