Seem to be getting severely ill?

Read an article in the guardian by an ICU consultant and he seemed to say it was 70% men and 30% women in the beds.
I wonder why?

Women have more inbuilt immunity from being coughed & sneezed on by bugsy little children since forever.

Funnily enough, the three people I know that have died of it are all men.

Men don’t know if they have underlying illnesses such as high blood pressure, cholesterol or diabetes unless they get regular checks at GP. Most men just won’t go and get checked.

Disappointing to read the sexiest comments on here regarding hygiene etc. with no evidence given on this. We fight for equality and claim men are downgrading/sexiest to us and then embarrass ourselves with comments like these.

GingerLemonTea · 09/01/2021 10:29

I didn’t make the comment, but there is evidence for it......

This is an interesting study seems to indicate that oestrogen plays a protective part against COVID-19 and that post menopausal women are more susceptible to severe illness and mortality, on the flip side women on HRT and combined contraception have added protection.

I went to a big club a few weeks before the first lockdown.

They said they had put improved hygiene in to help with spread.

I was surprised to find this meant additional hand washing facilities outside the gents with a big sign saying wash your hands.

The ladies had nothing different.

Were the club sexist?

More men with underlying conditions.
More men likely to be going to the kind of work that exposes them to the risk.

Yet the restrictions are more likely to impact on women.

Women have two lovely big robust XX chromosomes, whereas men only have one. Women’s immune systems therefore work differently
