How many tests have you or your young DC had?

I don't know if other people just aren't bothering or I am over reacting.

Dc1 and me, both coughing at the start of the pandemic. I was very breathless. Both tested negative.
Dc1 minor cough 1 day, raging temp the next. Tested. Negative.
Dc2 sent home from pre school with upset tummy. Negative.
Dc1 minor operation so both of us tested. Negative.
Dc1 and me again, both coughing a lot, was sure it would be positive. It wasnt.
Dc 1 temperature today . And headache, generally feeling unwell. Relative asking "do you need to get a test every time they have a temp then?" ExH says "if the temp persists, get a test"

I think, just get a test. It's a pita it means no contact with ExH. And no childcare bubble. No "break " but also no potentially spreading it!

Am I overreacting or others being blasé?

DD: 8 (all negative)*

*DH, DD and I are all part of the ONS Covid study.

NeverForgetYourDreams · 08/01/2021 22:10

No tests and no one I know has had a test yet

NeverForgetYourDreams · 08/01/2021 22:12

Oh forgot to say no symptoms here so no need to test

Coasterfan · 08/01/2021 22:13

We are a family of 4, no symptoms and no tests here.

Vivana · 08/01/2021 22:13

I've had 25 + tests all negative. I am a care assistant so have to have these done. Even got some at home now and this will go up as have lateral Flow test kit coming soon to

FiveGoMadInDorset · 08/01/2021 22:16

Me one test in May as part of a national NHS research project, we had to test 500 staff in 2 days.

DC's did their lateral flow test today in school

None of us have had any symptoms in the past 10 months

Lockdownlovernotfromliverpool · 08/01/2021 22:16

Me and ds 11 got picked for NHS survey tests. Both negative.. Ds 19 just tested positive this week on army camp. Dd adult tested negative a day later.
No symptoms at all and a family of 10....

DarkDarkNight · 08/01/2021 22:17

My Son has had one test as part of a random study. I have had one test at work after returning after Christmas.

My Son’s class hasn’t had any cases or any need to isolate.

The masks and distancing have done wonders for my normal winter illnesses so nothing that could be mistaken for symptoms. The closest thing was a migraine where my face and inside my mouth was numb.

Chasingsquirrels · 08/01/2021 22:17

In the ONS survey, so 5 times on April / May and monthly since then.
Not taken any tests for symptoms though as haven't had any.

Crunchymum · 08/01/2021 22:18

Me - 0
DP - 0
DC1 - 0
DC2 - 1 (negative)
DC3 - 0

WhatwouldRuthdo · 08/01/2021 22:19

3 year old has been tested once with symptoms. Negative.
The rest of the house (me, DH and 8 year old) have been tested maybe 6 times each as we are also in the ONS survey. All negative.

minipie · 08/01/2021 22:21

None for me and DC.

Amazingly we’ve had zero of the covid symptoms. DC have been a little snotty once or twice but that’s it - far better than usual. Normally I get at least one nasty cough per winter (colds go to my chest), this year nothing.

DH has been tested twice for work reasons (private test, no symptoms). Negative.

xyzandabc · 08/01/2021 22:22

Me, DH, 3 kids at 2 schools, I work at a 3rd school, no one has ever had a test. No symptoms in any of us.

Looks like I will be the 1st with a lateral flow test next week if I go in to work as all staff/students in the building are having them (as long as they consent).

whataballbag · 08/01/2021 22:23

I've had countless tests. I have a constant cough so worry everytime it seems worse.

DS1 has had 4 - all for what turned out to be colds he brought home from school

DS2 has had 1 - for a random weird temp he got that seemed to last literally until I booked the test and then disappeared

HappyPumpkin81 · 08/01/2021 22:25

Me, 1 lost my sense of smell and taste completely test was negative. 3 year old DD never, I am lucky in that she does not seem to get temperatures, she has had exactly 3 in her life, 2 of which were the result of chest infections. When I had my test the testers were relieved I wasn't doing my daughter as it very stressful for small children, I figured if I had it she probably did too and neither of us would be going anywhere for 14 days anyway.

PufferFishGoneWrong · 08/01/2021 22:26

4 of us in the house. No tests and no isolating. None of us are shielders.

Veuvestar · 08/01/2021 22:26

You’re not overreacting
Ds coughed about 5 times and I booked him in for a test. He didn’t cough at all the next day Blush

We have loads of testing, don’t need symptoms.
They encouraged it.
We’ve been tested 3 times each

MadameBlobby · 08/01/2021 22:35

@ImFree2doasiwant

Those who haven't had any tests, is that because of genuinely no symptoms? Ds1 and I both suffer with coughs, if we get a cold we get an awful cough. We tested receny for really bad coughs, like nothing I'd ever had albeit short lived.
I always have a cough, never had a new continuous one.

No tests here

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/01/2021 22:39

I'm having tests as part of the ONS research but other than that none. We hardly ever get ill. We had colds in September but none of the main symptoms and I knew it wasn't Covid as I was having weekly tests for the ONS research. All negative. That's the only time we've been ill.

vanillandhoney · 08/01/2021 22:44

Two adults here - no tests:

We've isolated twice due to symptoms but the nearest test centre was over two hours away at the time.

yearinyearout · 08/01/2021 22:50

None!

Crumpetycrump · 08/01/2021 22:55

I’ve had 4 tests as a result of the Zoe app, one for symptoms and one lateral flow test today as I work in a school. All negative.

Enidblyton1 · 08/01/2021 22:55

No symptoms and no tests
The only time any of us had a possible covid symptom was my younger child back in early March. No testing available then.

Oeliilio · 08/01/2021 22:56

None of us.
No one has displayed any signs of illness since it all started with tests. 99% sure though we had it in March, numerous people at DH’s workplace had it and tested positive in hospitals. We had classic symptoms

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 08/01/2021 22:57

None (so far, fingers crossed we don't have to)
