When do you think primary schools will reopen?

What are people's thoughts as to when they will reopen primary schools? We are in London and considering whether to fork in for a nanny as lockdown with our very active child nearly broke us last time.

My feeling based on the current numbers and the announced pace of vaccination is that primary school closures will last until Easter (so effectively until mid-April because of half term). What do people think?

I was reading something interesting about schools never reopening, instead children will do online, virtual schools. I bet the government would love to shut them permanently! Think of the savings to me made.

I don’t think it will happen but I thought it thought provoking.

Yes they’ll never reopen 🙄.

I suspect reception and year 1 back after half term. Others after Easter

Thanks for all the responses - looks like the majority seem to think Easter, at least in high rate areas like London... Oh gosh.

We have never had a nanny (we used to be able to cope with nursery / school & afterschool club / odd babysitter) and we do find the process of finding a nanny a bit daunting! But our jobs are super busy so I think we'll go for it if we are looking at 3 months+ of this. Re Covid, we are relaxed about having a nanny come in as we had it over Christmas (almost certainly caught from DS), we are not vulnerable and are not seeing anyone.
