Anyone else awake? Need a friend.

My husband was admitted to ITU yesterday. He is really sick.
It’s 2am and I just can’t sleep. I don’t want to wake anyone up but was wondering if anyone else was awake for similar reasons. It would be good to hear from others in a similar position. Xx

DH had 2 friends in hospital with Covid just before Christmas. Both were extremely sick and we feared the worst. However, with the new drugs and plasma both recovered and are both back at home now. When they started to recover rather than deteriorate they actually seemed to pick up very quickly. I hope the same for your husband.

MN really is a wonderful place. Thank you all for lovingly offering handholds in the small hours. How are you AEJS? My phone actually died and I fell asleep (only to dream about being held hostage along with my family by a sword dealer... of course ). Then I shot up with my heart in my mouth and thought that actually, at this point, a face-off with a swordsman would be preferable to DH being in hospital with covid. It seems easier to deal with!
Our DHs will be on dexamethasone which is a game-changer, I keep getting told. But I'm waiting for the game to change! It's agonising. We have to hang onto crumbs of hope though. The methods used in hospital now are a big improvement from the first wave. Enough has been learned between the first wave and this one to reduce hospital deaths, which is really encouraging, but not enough when you're in the thick of this dismal fog.
Anyway, I'm just here, feeling the fear with you, OP... it's a battle, but it's comforting to share the fear with others.
