Can snot affect COVID test?

We did dd’s covid test the other day and even though we tried to get her to blow as much as possible, after the nose swab, there was visible snot on the swab. The results have come back negative and I’m just worrying that it could be a false negative because of the snot! Is that possible?

Mine came back undetermined when that happened but there was a bit of blood too.

I asked a tester and she asked if it had come back with a result.

It did, negative, so she said yes it would have worked.

DD2 managed to get snot on her test too. Came back negative. She reckoned the snot provided more of a 'sample'!

Thank you! I will be relieved at the negative then! :D

First test with DS - quite snotty and negative

Second test with DS - nothing visible on swab whatsoever and negative

I think the key thing is twirling the swab round enough to get lots of lovely microorganisms on it... Wink

I got a private test in the summer that included a phone all from a dr to discuss result, I had snot and some blood on the test but he said it makes no difference to the test result.
