How many hours 1 2 1 homeschooling do you think would equal formal learning in a primary school, in a large class? Y4.

Curious rather than worried.

DS is year 6, we are doing three hours a day which I think equates to a school day as although the school day is 6 hours, there are breaks, he has to share the teacher with 34 others and we aren’t doing things like art, music or PE as I need to work 60 hours a week on top of homeschool so something had to give!! Chatting with him about what they do at school they do maths and English every morning then the afternoon varies, reading, science, history, geography, art, PE etc so I m trying to do maths and English every day for an hour each then we choose another topic on the sheet and do that for an hour. He is reading for at least an hour independently too. So far we are getting through everything so I think we are doing ok. It would be good to hear what teachers think!!

Definitely be good to hear what teachers think!

We do one Oak Academy each of English, maths, science and complete exercises on purplemash. That's about 2.5 hours. Then timetable sheets and reading. Some days have topic thrown in based on reading subject or science. So I think we do 4 hours in total. DH does 2 hours before work in the morning and I start work early so can do after work.

I don't think we will maintain it completely.
