Positive test

I've just had a positive test through. I was invited for a test from the zoe covid 19 symptom checker, as I don't have any actual covid symptoms. I think I started to feel unwell last week Monday - I was excessively cold and my muscles were sore. I took my temp twice and then took some paracetamol as I didn't have a temp but I was a bit achy and that's the extent of my symptoms. No cough or fever or loss of smell but there is a disgusting taste in my mouth and I've gone off eating altogether.

The problem is I don't know when to consider the isolation to start and what symptoms to watch out for - my chest is sore and feels a bit tight if I breathe in very deeply and I feel dizzy when I get out of bed. That's gotten worse the past few days. I assumed I had the cold my daughter had from nursery before Xmas but now I worry she too has had covid and I have spread it near and far by going to the optician, asda and having a friend pick something up from me that she leant me (before lockdown kicked in). We did wear masks when she picked it up but I'm paranoid I've put her at risk too.

Has anyone had a similar experience?

You’re meant to isolate from the day you got your results if you’re not sure.

Did nhs track and trace (whatever they're called) not tell u when you need to self isolate and finish isolating? I'm so sorry btw you're having to experience it. Please take as much rest as you can. Keep the liquid and medicine up (paracetamol). A lot of what you describe sounds like what my friend had. Also have chicken bone broth. Make a big pot and keep drinking it. I hope you recover soon. Please be kind to yourself. As for self isolating I assumed it's when you first have symptoms? But I'd just contact them and ask when to stop isolating.

Not from the day of the test?

Thanks I've only just had the result through tonight so haven't filled in the app yet - I booked through the Zoe symptom checker so it didn't go via the NHS app.
I'm guessing track and trace will call me when I update the NHs app?

I was hoping it would be from last week mostly because that would mean I am quite far into it - I'm scared of getting very sick as I have a BMI of 38 and I'm 39

Yes they email you or text you.

faithfulbird20 · 07/01/2021 03:21

I'd give their number a call and speak to someone to get proper advice.

Call 119 and get advice.
