If you did mix over Christmas

Is there anyone now unwell as a result? The number of cases today is daunting and deaths are over 1000, the timeline would correspond with it being the Christmas period it would have been caught. I was thinking about this and wondering if anyone is aware that someone they saw over christmas is now unwell as a result?

Yes. And with more than we should have in separate days. None of us or any of them ill.
And it would have been a total of 8 diff adults, 2 teens and 7 kids.

Plus dsd coming to spend time with us as well as her dms support bubble when there
And ds going to his dad's. Who is his daughters support bubble.

So yes quite a few households. And I know it's frowned upon, illegal or whatever. But not one of any of the various households is ill!

tigerbear · 06/01/2021 21:07

Not me, but a friend of mine mixed with her partner’s family - 5 households - and four of them now have it. One of them has been taken to hospital.

StylishMummy · 06/01/2021 21:08

We mixed with no issues

ImHereForTheEntertainment · 06/01/2021 21:14

Also dh manager has it now.
He's been going to house parties from day 1 in 1st lockdown. Lots been broken up by police they just go to different houses.

His manager came to work knowing full well he'd tested positive because the owner said he couldn't afford not to be open and without the manager there he couldn't open safely with numbers.
They can't distance in their role.

The manager was also told not to tell the other staff he was positive or he'd be sacked.

So lots of face to face huffing and puffing lifting heavy gear, one tiny window. Doors closed because its like a warehouse so cold and they have heating on. Share a staff office, lunch room 8ft x 8ft with 4 seats so crammed

And not one of the others thankfully have caught it.
Dh had a sore throat and funy taste so tested and was negative thankfully. It was only then they found out about the manager being positive.

Mixed, all fine

EmpressSuiko · 06/01/2021 21:43

Yes we saw my parents and no one has fallen ill but we have low numbers here.

EmpressSuiko · 06/01/2021 21:44

I will add a lot of my friends/family in the south east now either have it or have had it but none of them mixed over Christmas, it just seems to be spreading very easily and quickly there.

sHREDDIES19 · 06/01/2021 22:08

We did admittedly break the rule as technically more households than permitted on Christmas Day but all of us are fine with no symptoms. We did however all self isolate beforehand.

Purplethrow · 06/01/2021 22:17

Most people on here are saying that they mixed and are all fine , but also know ‘other’ people that mixed but are not fine .

JaceLancs · 06/01/2021 22:20

No spent most of Xmas with DS who lives with me n DP who is in our bubble
DM counts as providing care to vulnerable person (81 with Alzheimer’s

My sister in law went home to her family. 9 or 11 came down with covid and she gave it to my brother when she got back home (he was working). They're both doctors and didn't manage to get it this whole year until the family gathering. Can't tell who had it first as so many came down at once.

My friend went to a gathering and there were 8 people - 3 households but in the childcare support bubble people and 5 came down with it the week after. Traced to a workman who had been in the house and gave it to one family member.

bluebird3 · 06/01/2021 22:21

That should say 9 of 11

GreenPlum · 06/01/2021 22:22

A friend of mine saw his dad and his brother on Christmas Day. Tested Monday. He got positive result today.

Mreggsworth · 06/01/2021 22:27

Yes. Everyone I spent Christmas with caught covid including myself. No one really went out between Christmas and getting first symptoms so hopefully wouldn't have contributed towards a chain.

donewithitalltodayandxmas · 06/01/2021 22:34

People on this are mostly looking at others to blame . There are lots of allowed support bubbles which mix regularly they will also be a risk but necessary as it was for some to see loved ones at xmas for reasons many do not know.
I mean if I didn't live we dh i could regularly mix with my parents.
People have caught from supermarkets, work and hospitals etc as well but we still need to go to these so are at risk daily many of us who don't work from home etc.
A lot seem to of stuck to the rules but no other people who didn't who have all caught covid
Most of the deaths and even a few cases won't be showing for xmas yet.
I know of several families who met but all took extra precautions before.

rosielicious · 06/01/2021 22:48

I work on a Covid ward, we now have patients that tested positive just after Christmas but were pre-symptomatic on Christmas Day. Mixed with family members Christmas Day presuming they were fine and have infected their relatives.

EmbarrassingMama · 06/01/2021 22:50

We didn’t mix with anyone (thank god) but DH and I both got Covid a few days before Xmas. Thankfully we didn’t break the rules and pass it on.

A friend from London went to see her dad (wasn’t allowed) and since discovered she took Covid with her.

Skipsurvey · 06/01/2021 23:05

i was so frightened of mixing i wanted to cancel,
we mixed outside within our bubble, ie, one person.

Veuvestar · 06/01/2021 23:11

Jingleswish- your SIL died, is that right?

Skipsurvey · 06/01/2021 23:14

@YogaLite

I think what we are seeing is the result of Christmas shopping and schools 🙁
I agree entirely, Christmas shopping, the shops were busy
Veuvestar · 06/01/2021 23:17

So that graph by specimen date, big spike on 29th

DrMadelineMaxwell · 06/01/2021 23:17

We nixed with my mum and my.sister who lives with her. But we kept it to 2 hours only and distanced carefully within their flat and windows open even though it was cold.

Noone I'll as a result thankfully.

ThatIsNotMyUsername · 06/01/2021 23:20

In our first team virtual meeting after the break about half had tested positive (all younger members of staff who had been previously going to the pub, meeting friends etc).

Us old farts with kids and elderly parents and sick partners didn’t mix - and none of us managed to contract it.

What a shocker eh?

Veuvestar · 06/01/2021 23:29

Does anyone know where you can find the numbers for the actual number of tests taken?
I really want to see that increase, preferably by area?
Interfectorem- where did you get that chart from?

Indecisive12 · 06/01/2021 23:33

Met with my parents, all ok. I’d had Covid in November although not yet recovered however. We’d all isolated for 7 days prior.
