Any one had a test recently and can advise how long their results took? Trying to wait patiently

4 days

unmarkedbythat · 06/01/2021 15:18

I felt unwell 27/12, ordered a home test kit the afternoon of that day
It arrived morning of 28/12. posted back about lunchtime
Results came through later afternoon 29/12

(I'm in Manchester and iirc the test kit was sent back to Glasgow)

User415373 · 06/01/2021 15:20

What kind of test? I had a postal last week, took 8 days in total. Friend had a drive through the same day and had results in 2 days.

Bookriddle · 06/01/2021 15:20

Ive had to have a drive through 3 times now, all 3 took 2 days

jeff1965 · 06/01/2021 15:34

I was tested on New Year's Eve but only got my (positive) result back today. I had to chase for it. I was tested at a drive through centre.

jeff1965 · 06/01/2021 18:06

@VolvoEagle that's terrible!!! Any ideas what happened to your result?

We have the lateral flow tests at local centre. So they message you with in an hour.

One of my sons did the other test at another centre and the message you results with in 3 days

Ginfizzlife · 06/01/2021 18:33

My DM had a test at 12.30pm on New Year’s Eve and had a negative result at 1 minute past midnight. Less than 12 hours! I’m still amazed, especially as she said the drive through centre they used was really busy.

jeff1965 · 06/01/2021 20:10

@Ginfizzlife that's a great turnaround, hoping for something similar!

VolvoEagle · 06/01/2021 20:20

No idea unfortunately, but I wasn't the only person tested on that day at that location who had to wait so long. I guess they're really busy.

jeff1965 · 07/01/2021 20:47

@VolvoEagle not ideal for contact tracing purposes!

drive through - last sunday at 2
no results yet!!!
4 days and counting!

Cassimin · 08/01/2021 09:59

Drive through on Monday. No results yet. Daughter had a positive lateral flow that day, son had a negative so we all went for pcr.
We are all fine except daughter who has tonsillitis type symptoms but she always gets it this time of year.
Does lateral flow pick up other virus and give a positive result?

jeff1965 · 08/01/2021 12:08

I would recommend ringing up if it goes past the recommended average as turns out my details got lost, no idea how, which was corrected after calling

OP posts:
jeff1965 · 08/01/2021 12:08

Was told 24 - 48 hours so called after 48

OP posts:
Cassimin · 08/01/2021 12:52

Yes, I rang yesterday. They said ring after 5 days. I imagine there are more people going for tests so it it taking longer. I went for pcr in April and got the results the next day.
I don’t know if it makes any difference but we’re in Liverpool so lots of people are getting the lateral flow then getting sent to get pcr.

Lolololololol · 08/01/2021 13:23

I went to the drive through test center at 1030 yesterday morning, my results came through on email and text at 3am this morning.

ruthieness · 08/01/2021 21:58

decided to give up on the test taken last Sunday -
took test at walk in at 11am today - result at 9,30pm today!!!!
