Childcare bubbles

I think I already know the answer to this, but am going to ask anyway! We had a childcare bubbles with my in-laws prior to lockdown. I'm now working from home and my in-laws want to continue coming to look after the children while I work. I think this would be a breech of the rules, and I managed through the first lockdown, so will through this one too. My in laws think that since we have a childcare bubble they should be able to come and look after the children (and come whenever they want!) Who is right?

We are both WFH and ILs are maintaining our bubble. We have WFH since March and they have provided after school cover.

It is a genuine bubble though, as in we don’t see anyone else

I think the rules say technically no but if nurseries are open, and childminders then I see no reason. However they should take the kids to their own house rather than be at yours.

Also they shouldn't come whenever they want, should be set times.

Of course it’s fine! Where in the rules does it say this can’t continue?

PTW1234 · 06/01/2021 15:16

It’s very much in the rules, but they can be your only bubble, children have to be under the age of 14, ands to facilitate work - not a social interaction between adults

It’s within the rules for them to look after your DC as long as they’re under 14, but you can’t socialise with the adults and they can’t just come when they like!

Damn! Maybe I'll have to let them in that case. It's actually less stressful to just do it myself!
