Why isolate now?

I've been Googling but struggling to find a clear answer on this, if anyone can shed some light please.

I tested positive for Covid and I'm now on day 11 after showing symptoms, so no need to isolate BUT I've had diarrhoea and this hasn't gone away yet (although is improving). The NHS website says I need to continue isolating if I have diarrhoea - why is this? I'm so desperate to see my toddler.

It's because if you are continuing to have unabated symptoms there's a good chance you are still infectious. The 10 days refers to typical duration, not every single case.

I hope you improve and feel better soon
