75% of my school are in

That's it in a nutshell. Three quarters of my school are classed as keyworker or vulnerable. Might as well chuck the other 50 in and be done with it.

Lockdown 1... 12 children.

No PPE and we've got to double our workload for the ones needing remote learning whilst we are teaching our classes. And then making phone calls to check on them.

It's the same for every school in my area.

@Uganytono

Also - we were told that teachers were all terrified and wanted schools shut, but for the first time ever people turned against their unions on mass. So we’re they terrified of dying or did they need the childcare from schools too!? All the Teachers pretending to speak for others were the ones were that suited their lives better - no kids, no financial hit (life would be easier)

What I’ve learnt from this is the hysterical people who “speak out” on TV, social media... Mumsnet. Do not represent the general population, they are suffer from mental health problems!

Hooray someone said it

Those teachers who NEED to
Shelter, can Shelter, those who can work are working, and there are people who are happy to hide at home forever because they are so horrible no one wants to mix with them anyway!

@RedToothBrush

Spot on! What this is is short term thinking with longer term more detrimental consequences.

If people want to save their lives and livelihoods and not be thrown under the perpetual next bus is to try to not selfishly abuse the system yet again. Basically if more people become ill and they will when schools full of people start super spreading further then all these people will finally either get ill or lose their livelihoods- we are not there yet are we? Can we not do a real lockdown now to get rid of the disease? We have vaccines this time to help!

Yet here you are. Which category fits you? And less of the sexist "hysterical".

Spot on, RedToothBrush.

TheKeatingFive · 06/01/2021 08:45

Not many in same situation would do differently even if they say they wouldn’t on here.

Exactly.

And prioritising your mental health has to be a priority. Who picks up the pieces for your family if that goes to pot? Absolutely no one.

I tell you what's more damaging than Covid... a nation of children all suffering life long mental health problems, self harm issues and eating disorders.

No who are the selfish bastards?

ofboris · 06/01/2021 08:46

Once we fook our children up, you can't fix that, it's forever

TheKeatingFive · 06/01/2021 08:46

a nation of children all suffering life long mental health problems, self harm issues and eating disorders.

And all to fuel an illusion that we can be kept ‘safe’ from a virus. It’s bonkers.

ineedaholidaynow · 06/01/2021 08:46

I wonder if schools made masks compulsory in classrooms from age 6 like in other countries I wonder if this would have an impact on number of children in school

Doesn’t this make you want to help prevent other people suffering in the same way?

He's back out at work now, because life has to go on... he has asthma, but even he takes the approach that you cannot live like this

Pack in the catastrophising. Where do you get this from? Link? Evidence?

These people will never listen, they have their own selfish agenda, a need to shut the world out, it suits them to live this way

@ofboris

How long before the in person school bubble burst with the first cases closing down the school again? What if your child suffers serious or long Covid? Or even your adult teachers go into ICU when others are fighting for a ventilator?

Anyway, as I said, get on with your own lives and please stop and think before you demonise people for living theirs

ResIpsaLoquiturInterAlia · 06/01/2021 08:52

@ofboris

This is not the lockdown forever club but the lockdown seriously to get rid of the disease for good club so no more future lockdowns!

The virus is never going to go away, hello!!!

They can't sort their shit out vaccine wise, it's mutating every five minutes, even if vax'd you can still transmit.

Just one last lockdown, are you kidding me, we'll be doing this shizzle every winter for years to come!!

How is prolonging restrictions going to help then?

Answers on a postcard to 'there is only one way out of this and some joined up thinking would help'.

Once we fook our children up, you can't fix that, it's forever

What’s fucked my child up is closing sport. With that goes their chance of either getting a scholarship to a US university, or a professional contract.

This year was key as it was full on bridging that gap between junior and senior competition. The senior elite are still training, so the gap is ever widening. They don’t see how they will catch up if and when they can go back as they’ll have less than a year to get back to full fitness, and then try to fit two years full time training into

Also sport is their de-stressor. They can cope with home schooling and all this shit if they get their daily 2-3 hours of training.

I can see them spiralling and there’s fuck all I can do.

The best chance my kid has is if everyone else stays the fuck at home, we stop the spread and at least get back to tier 3 level in as short a time as possible.

Sending kids to school when you don’t need to is going to prolong all this crap.
