Has Teams really gone down nationally?

Just received a call from the school saying that Teams was failing and "We believe that this problem may have been caused through schools all over the country accessing Teams at the same time. We understand that Microsoft are working to increase the capacity for Teams so that this problem is solved."

Is this really true?

My work teams is working.

Noellodee · 05/01/2021 11:03

Working here.

MinecraftMother · 05/01/2021 11:03

Yes, down here (Midlands) and it is a National thing, but perhaps patchy.

So surprising...

yankeedoodledandee · 05/01/2021 11:04

Why would your school go to all the effort of ringing round parents if it wasn't true?

steppemum · 05/01/2021 11:04

2 kids on teams all morning so far, no issues.

Noellodee · 05/01/2021 11:04

But then, I am only sending out to small groups. Maybe your school is trying to send to much larger groups?

HavfrueDenizKisi · 05/01/2021 11:04

Working here for DD - London.

MeringueCloud · 05/01/2021 11:05

Working here

jamesfailedmarshmallows · 05/01/2021 11:05

DS had a google meet class this morning and couldn't access it, it seems there was similar problems.

That must be a separate issue as Google doesn't run Teams.

I'm on it right now in the Midlands. Have been all morning and it's been fine.

unicornparty · 05/01/2021 11:07

Mine has been failing to send messages

AgnesNaismith · 05/01/2021 11:08

Working here in the mids - could you use through browser rather than on the app?

NoSquirrels · 05/01/2021 11:16

A 'national issue' doesn't mean it's exactly the same for everyone everywhere - it can be regional/patchy/inconsistent as a wider issue even if some people are OK on it. If they've got tech issues with Teams, it's unlikely they're just saying that as an excuse.

HavelockVetinari · 05/01/2021 11:19

If you're using the app sometimes the browser version works better. Also some old version of Internet Explorer can't cope, you're better off with Edge or similar.

PTW1234 · 05/01/2021 11:22

Not teams, but my internet is rubbish today, live near 2 large secondaries (1 private) so imagine we have lots of secondary school children hammering our local networks

OhBaublesBaubles · 05/01/2021 11:24

Could be your part of a multi academy group with teeny servers and limited investment....

BurningRed · 05/01/2021 11:30

Just uploaded a load of files - 100’s and I’m teaching live. All is well in the north west!

2BDIs · 05/01/2021 11:31

My husband has had a very unstable connection on teams yesterday and today. Not gone down but connection dipping in and put

TheGreatWave · 05/01/2021 11:37

Teams can be rubbish at the best of times. So no surprise it is especially rubbish today

Demitri · 05/01/2021 11:51

Our is fine. All 3 dc have managed to have 3 separate classes this morning. It was slow and freezing at points but didn’t go down at all

Xerochrysum · 05/01/2021 11:53

I don't think school would make up the unreal issue just to get away from doing their work. They would be getting hard time from parents, I would imagine.

LadyCatStark · 05/01/2021 11:55

It’s working for DS but he isn’t receiving messages on the chat and when he put his hand up, it didn’t work.

steppemum · 05/01/2021 12:55

maybe, but i can't do video calls on the browser, and my kids are using it for live lessons, so browser wouldn't work.
LadyLovelyLockz · 05/01/2021 13:05

Mine was down earlier, around 11.30 for about 30 mins.
