Interpretation of travel and exercise

I’ve got a slot at a National Trust property, intending to have a nice long walk outside.

It’s about 10 miles away (I live in the suburbs of a City).

It’s within my Local Authority area, I don’t have to pass through another.

I feel safer at a place that caps attendance, there is a small park where I live but it’s about the same size as a football pitch, it’s a free for all.

Reasonable to go to this NT place?

I would say seeing as they managed tiers etc on a county level, providing you’re within your county it’s fair game.

So I can travel 70 miles to the other end of my county? That's pretty obviously not in the spirit of these rules.

And conversely, I live about a mile from a county border. My nearest supermarket is over the county border from me. I guess I'd better drive to the much further away one that's in my county then...

Presumably the reason we have 'should' rather than 'must' is precisely because it doesn't make sense to rigidly apply the same exercise rules to people in the middle of a busy city and people in a rural area. I can walk for hours here and see very few people, and easily keep my distance frim the few I do see.

Its bonkers the idea here is to stop transmission , it was incredibly busy where I live because all local sites closed.

And yet if they had let us access all the local sites people could spread out more.

People will tell you it's not in spirit etc etc.

However they've been kept open for this reason.

And no NT place I know is in walking distance of town etc and there's an expectation you drive there!

So if it's your local one then it's fine.
