Mil and Covid
She’s just messaged (lives alone so we’ve arranged that she texts me to check in)
She’s invigilating at local VI form this morning. 82.
🤬😡
I am so cross.

I’m surprised at how angry I am. I’d already spoken to the local authority when she was doing it pre Christmas but VI Forms are not in their control. They advised to talk to her and the college and I just want to phone them all up and scream.

Why shouldn't she work, if she wants to?

Presumably she knows her own mind?

Why are you interfering in what she does. She's not your child. Respect your elders, it's her decision to make.

Covidiotmil · 05/01/2021 09:20

I’m not interfering. I’ve not answered her ‘I’m invigilating’ text. She’s 82 and there’s a lethal respiratory disease meaning that the rest of her family have their lives on hold to protect her and others of her generation. The college are being reckless even if she’s happy to make such a decision.

I've calmed down a bit. Spent all morning talking to clients and colleagues who are at the end of their tether.
Lots of tears.
We're bubbled with her at the expense of other relatives; she's very selective in what information she accepts, and the college are reinforcing her belief that it's nothing to worry about, while we're stuck wfh, not seeing family, not travelling, basically enduring the same privations as the rest of country.
