When do you think we will be allowed abroad again ? I have holidays in May booked and I’m doubting they’ll go ahead. Anyone else booked holidays ? And before anyone shouts at me iknow we’re all fed up- so I’m sorry if this has been posted before !

I wouldn't be surprised if Ryan Air and Tui go bust. Ryan Air in particular have been heavily advertising for flexible bookings - this indicates they desperately need cash inflow.

I wouldn't plan on a holiday in May and I wouldn't leave any payments on account - "protected" or not.

We have one booked for end of June. I'm feeling pretty optimistic tbh. A lot can change in 5/6 months.

Weenurse · 04/01/2021 23:32

I am in Australia, we have been told not until next year at the earliest.

I have one for mid May booked also, I have noticed the TUi covid cover only goes upto 31st April. Mine is to a Greek Island. I think it may go ahead still after the announcement tonight because most vulnerable will of been vaxed by mid feb etc & there's the quick covid tests to take before you fly.

I think most people will not even consider booking right now, regardless of what promises the holiday companies make - as personal finances are stretched/uncertain and they could go bust at any time and take your money down with them.

Sadly, then, because people aren't booking and injecting advance cash into their systems, it will become a self-fulfilling prophecy for many firms in the holiday/travel industry; then, when we can finally travel freely again, there will be far fewer companies left for us to book with.

i think we will be in and out of lockdown until july. and then again in eat when schools open after summer break

i think 2021 will be a repeat of 2020

SunscreenCentral · 04/01/2021 23:51

I’ve booked a fully refundable Airbnb house in France for arrival 3rd week in July. Reasonably optimistic. I can cancel 4 weeks before if necessary. It’s something to look forward to!!

Inpersuitofhappiness · 05/01/2021 00:53

Weve got a booking for July/aug with virgin. I've paid £900 and thought nope. Not paying a penny more. Chucking the money for that holiday in my savings.
October, paid a deposit, but I'm not certain
December, again, deposit and not a penny more.
I'm more hopeful for December but I don't hold out much hope.

@TillysMum02
I’m thinking the same as you , but then I also remember last year when there was a few weeks restrictions got lifted & people went abroad for there holidays quickly ? Mind you had to isolate on return so that would be crap.

Id rather just have the money back and cancel but it’s been moved from last year so don’t think that’s possible.
