My partner is a travelling sales rep selling equipment to car garages. On average he visits around 20 different customers per day. He basically has to go into each customer, show them catalogues etc and try and get them to buy tools etc.
His boss has told him to carry on as normal during the new lockdown.
Is this ok under the new rules?!

IMO (and his) he could technically do his job over the phone and he's happy to take on some delivering if needed, he's not trying to get out of working he just doesn't want to break the law.

If garages are still open then technically he can still do the job he does? A grey area I’d have thought, but not against the rules.

Yes garages are staying open I believe but while I agree his business should remain open, his customers can order online or over the phone. Surely him travelling round showing them a catalogue isn't essential?

I didn't realise travelling sales reps with catalogues still existed!

Yes places like snap on, mac tools etc did in the previous one.

Yep! Still going!

The message is 'work from home unless impossible to do so'. It just seems like such a non essential reason for travelling round when he can speak to all his customers over the phone.

All his customers said these were all furloughed during the first lockdown?
