Teachers/ parents are your SEND schools remaining open to all pupils? My DH's is and wondered what the picture was like across the country. In the first lockdown it was only open to a few more vulnerable pupils....

We are offering at least 2 days to all pupils, more to KW families. Cutting the group sizes and having a rota means we can keep people safer, we hope this will mean that the staff who cited section 44 will come back. If they don't we won't be able to offer even that much ...

@Shieldingending that sounds very sensible. What age are they? Just primary. DH's school is a through school to 6th form so complicated!

Our DDs school is offering a place to all, but parents choose to have the children study from home and the school are providing full work/lessons etc.

It's just primary, we have 2 vocal disgruntled parents. The rest seem ok and we have had some lovely texts and emails thanking us for what we are doing. For example today 2 children were off (not covid) so we offered places to 2 children when it their day to be in. We are trying to keep as many children in as possible each day because although we provide home learning we know this isn't very helpful for many families, the need us for respite

Shieldingending · 07/01/2021 22:00

That should say * wasn't their day to be in ! i.e. we are offering extra days where possible

Alwaysready · 07/01/2021 22:05

Only open to very small groups, vulnerable, key worker- but keeping groups to 4/5 kids. Day 2 and we gave 2 teachers off with covid. Transport driver tested positive today and child from his bus has symptoms 🙄

TheeOthermother · 07/01/2021 22:13

Very similar to @Shieldingending
Most of our children will be in but not all every day so we still have to send remote learning.
Last time there were no children in for the bulk of the lockdown and very few came back in June so it’s very different this time but feels right for the needs of the children.

EachDubh · 07/01/2021 22:13

We are open fully as normal in Scotland and a base within a mainstream primary. All my class are in and can even move between schools, e.g. 3 days in 1, 2 days in another 😂. If it comes in it will spread through the school and no keyworker/ vulnerable kids will have places.

SEN teacher here, we're open to all.
We were during the first lockdown too.
