Cried
Had 3 cups of tea
Finished off the Xmas biscuits ( about 12 biscuits)
Cried again
Stared into space
Wrapped myself tightly in my duvet
Now I feel like crying again but will go to bed.

FML!!!

Stared into space for what felt like forever.
Wrote a list of all the things I did last homeschooling session that worked.
Turned down/postponed 2 pieces of work I was offered this month (I'm self-employed)
Almost abandoned dry January
Kept myself busy writing these 'Ten Ideas For Lockdown Homeschooling' instead as I thought it would be more constructive and hopefully useful to you too:

-Swore about Boris a few times, mainly for leaving things too late again so more lives, more fucked economy, sending all those kids in for one day etc.
-Poured a v large vodka and coke.

  • ate chocolate
  • realised my employability is fading by the second
  • wondered whether to go ahead with settling baby into nursery or postpone again
PaperNapkin · 05/01/2021 21:10

I know this is depressing, hopefully the last as a vaccine is upon us

ANP88 · 05/01/2021 21:13

Total carnage. I don’t have enough wine I’m the house to properly deal with it all.

It’s been over a year since I last saw my dm. She still hasn’t met my ds because of this, and I don’t know when I’ll see her again. (Trying not to think about it, as may cry).

Anyone feeling like lockdown 2.0 (or is it 3.0?) is causing ptsd?

I refuse point blank to partake in dry January.

NY Resolutions must now include more self care, inventive offline activities with kids, attempting to get dm onto zoom...

Big hugs to you all x

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 05/01/2021 21:33

Meh! Came home from a 10 hour shift, went to bed, got up, went to work for another 10 hour shift. Naff all changed in my life

Dontsayfuckorbugger · 05/01/2021 21:33

Also get a grip people. Like we didn't all see that coming !!!!!!

Lovely1a2b3c · 05/01/2021 22:02

@Perky1

Pleased that my mornings won’t be so rushed preparing son for school as I feel ill every morning due to Long Covid. Did some evening chores and went to bed only to have an episode of shakes, tachycardia and chest pain. C’est la vie.
I hope things improve over time- that sounds horrible!! This is why we need this lockdown.
HoneyNutLoop · 05/01/2021 22:20

Read and re-read DfE guidance.
Created spreadsheets and google docs
Supported colleagues to add virtual lessons to school calendar.
Prepped SMS communications for tomorrow morning.
Written several to do lists.
Sent about 20 e-mails.
Researched remote science teaching.
Turned laptop off at 10 for a early night.
Continued to message friends and colleagues.

HoneyNutLoop · 05/01/2021 22:37

Oh wait - this was yesterday - yesterday was NOT an early night!
That was mainly tears, panic planning, and frustration at the fool that is Boris.
The lack of sleep has clearly caught up with me!

Localocal · 05/01/2021 22:59

Eaten a large bowl of ice cream with an almost equal amount of Nutella on top of it.

Bluesparkled · 05/01/2021 23:08

Run out of wine

SmidgenofaPigeon · 05/01/2021 23:30

It’s been nearly 30 hours. Calm it down. Some of these are so cringe, honestly.

HarriR · 06/01/2021 07:57

@SteelMack if you can afford it do it. We loved our hot tub. Used it regularly and regretted it's loss since we moved house. Can be used in all weather's.

Perky1 · 06/01/2021 08:12

Lovely1a2b3c
Thank you, you are kind.
I have been ill since March 2020 and have a family member who is critically ill, not C19. My hospitality business is closed. Some people need to count their luck stars.

Icenii · 06/01/2021 08:30

I think some people are feeding off each other here. I had a glass of red Monday night but I'm bit ready to quit dry January altogether. If you're using alcohol as a crutch, now is the time to stop. It will make things worse.

BaconAndAvocado · 06/01/2021 09:09

I had a little cry when the DCs weren’t around.

Thanked my lucky stars that I’ve got my family with me, I’ve already had COVID and was ok and everyone else is fit and healthy.

We will get through this.

Barney60 · 06/01/2021 11:18

About time, should of been done weeks ago. hardly anyone takes any notice of previous rules, (tier 4) seen regularly people out in groups swimming in river near me in groups, crowds meeting at outside cafes, Supermarkets over and in run up to Christmas stopped limiting how many in store, crowds all shopping together as if its become a day out. So yes expected. To me those doing home schooling need more help other than that stay in, 1 lady i work with from Philippines she was telling me they had 16 weeks not allowed outside unless in own garden, set times to food shop for areas, curfews ect, weve had it easier to other countries.

ilovechocolate07 · 06/01/2021 16:42

I have been furious that I had to return to work for a whole day before 'closures' when it quite obviously was not safe.

Heard stories from children about 'sneaking' their extended families in to play and dad's new year party with his friends around. They do tell us everything, even if they're coached not to.

Also, since that, I have been shocked at the audacity of parents who are not even working but claiming a key adult place for their child as 1 parent is a key worker when the ambulance wait time was 11 hours yesterday. Some of them are the same parents who withdrew children 2 weeks before we broke up for xmas to isolate and see family (which staff couldn't do).

Been to work in a classroom with 16 key worker/vulnerable children and then helped my own children (who are technically entitled to a place) with their high school home learning as nobody can help them during the day.

I honestly love my job and appreciate how difficult it is to juggle work and children but this takes the biscuit. It's like there's no risk to life. Surely if you are at home all day, the best place for your child is with you.

Totally get this. Our only saving grace was we had an INSET day on Monday, so no children. But parents are definitely taking the piss sending their children in as 'KW' children when they are not or have cover at home and don't need to be there. #

My health counts for nothing, apparently, while they shielded for their own relatives in the run up to Christmas. And mixed more than the allowed number of households. All over social media around here.

Ddot · 06/01/2021 18:13

I'm on my bloody own, dropping food off for old ma, couple times a week. Ground hog day. If work is busy and all out i end up speaking to the cat and only the cat that day. Spend time on the phone but it's not the same. So moaning about people moaning you dont know what people are going through and how lonely it can be. I suffer from PTSD well I'm over it but it creeps in sometimes. I joined mumsnet for company 😁
