Very little point of sending them as it’s looking highly likely we are going into full lockdown. Why take the risk of being exposed to covid potentially at school?

Mousealot · 04/01/2021 08:15

I agonised over this all night and finally sent an email in this morning. DS is in primary in a tier 4 area and is one of the few primaries not closing from staff shortages today. I've said I'm keeping him off for today and will reassess. If lockdown is imminent then I agree that taking the risk today seems ridiculous after all the Christmas mixing.

Wannabangbang · 04/01/2021 08:17

I agree it would be a great shame if lots of families got ill with covid just before the imminent lockdown

EdwardCullensBiteOnTheSide · 04/01/2021 08:19

I have filled in the online forms to tell school my dc are not going to be in today. I have been honest and said I do not feel safe at this moment. I'm torn because I do not want them missing out, and every other mum at our school that I know cannot wait to send the kids back today, so I feel like a bit of a dramatic!

TiddleTaddleTat · 04/01/2021 08:20

Going back to school which is apparently open but feel really conflicted. I'm only just starting to recover from 11 months of long covid, terrified I'll catch it again

PerfectPearl · 04/01/2021 08:21

Thankyou for your reassuring posts, I am going to email them too saying how concerned I am and that will re assess in a few days

DS age 8 all dressed & ready & im sat wavering. It feels so wrong. I’m in Hampshire. Only saving Grace is that hopefully virus numbers in school lower this week especially as senior school is closed. We are a village & highly likely the families have been low risk for last 2 weeks. Desperate for national lockdown

NikkyD · 04/01/2021 08:24

Because full lockdown hasn’t been announced and it might not be.

PerfectPearl · 04/01/2021 08:26

I'm taking it a day at a time, the way I see it, one day missed of school is fine, will re assess for tomorrow

My school is open. Mine are going in, i feel so sick about it all but I have to go to work. Hardly slept with worry.

SaltedCaramelIcedLatte · 04/01/2021 08:44

Nope, it just isn't worth the risk

MargeryMcLatchie · 04/01/2021 11:55

It's awful reading all these messages. The government shouldn't be putting families in the position of having to choose between health and education, when parents' gut instincts tells them that their kids aren't safe in school.
This government are failing this country very badly and all trust has evaporated.
