Isolating am I getting this right?

DD had a positive test, we are all isolating. I have then become symptomatic and have now received a positive test.

Everyone else’s isolation ends tomorrow mine continues for another five days.

However track and trace app that has just contacted me is saying everyone else has to isolate for the other five days. I don’t have the facility to say no they are already isolating!
So do I just not fill it in?

And I’m correct aren’t I? As long as everyone else in the house is not symptomatic they stick to original date?

But if they become symptomatic they start a new 10 days?

If everyone else has done their 10 days without symptoms, their isolation ends.

The problem is, you caught it off DD and the rest of the family have no symptoms they probably didn’t catch it from DD, but they could have caught it from you and currently be incubating the virus. So, if you DH (for example) was isolating because of DD he would still need to isolate as the app says.

That's not what this chart says...

I would say they all need to start a new isolation from when you started symptoms

StatisticalSense · 03/01/2021 21:34

Did they isolate from you between your daughter getting symptoms and you getting symptoms?
If not morally they should isolate for the further 5 days as the government information is based on the assumption that family members isolate from each other from the moment the first person gets symptoms (and therefore no further transmission is likely from that point). If you are not isolating from each other you could still be transmitting the virus to other household members for at least several more days and therefore anyone who has caught it in the past several days will not as yet have had chance to show symptoms.

as long as there was no break for anyone in isolation no they finish and just you carries on. However if one of them got symptoms after going out again then the watch would start again.

Presumably the app doesn't know that they were already isolating . hope you all feel better soon

I’ve been isolating completely separately and so is my dd. No one has been anywhere.

We had this dilemma in our family. We were informed as the graph above. Everyone isolates from date of first persons symptoms. You only extend isolation period if you then have symptoms / test positive. The problem with test and trace is that the system can’t talk to itself so every time someone in the household tests positive you get the message to isolate again. We were bombarded with calls.

The rest of your house doesn't need to extend their isolation unless they develop symptoms or have a positive test. If you need to speak to a real person at test and trace to query your isolation dates you can phone 119 and they should be able to help you.
