So we are Tier 4 and school have emailed to so all mine will be home schooling for at least 2-weeks.

From Lockdown 1, me and OH eventually got into an ok routine, so what top tips can we share for ultimate family wellbeing.
Here’s mine:

Tell all my colleagues that I am home schooling, parenting and wfh so will be at reduced capacity
Not sweat the small stuff about gadget use
Book weekly click and collect
Ensure all the kids have and do daily chores - last time we issued chore cards (eg change all the towels, put a wash on).
And my favourite - make packed lunches in the morning as usual and stick in the fridge - youngest can then join me at desk for lunch
Prioritise being present as a parent

What’s your top tips?

I was in the fortunate position of not having to do it, but I know a few parents who did well with home learning last lockdown made their children put on their uniforms on school days to help get their heads in the right space for learning and add structure and routine to the day. Seemed like a genius idea to me.

My only tip, as someone who home educated for 9 years (I KNOW this is nothing like home education), is that don't get het up on how many hours of work they do.

Last lockdown I knew of so many people making children do 6 hours of work a day.

They really, really don't need to do a lot. A couple of hours for older primary, much less for younger children.

Have a 30 minute tidy up at end of day (4/5ish) every couple of days, that everybody has to participate in. I am a very unnatural tidier so was sceptical about it but it was sanity-saving. Whatever needed for schooling tomorrow - put it where you will be able to find it, including paper etc.

Keep any passwords or links for online school resources on paper and somewhere hidden but accessible, like stuck in a homework planner or stuck in the base of a drawer.
