What are your tips for crushing headache

My god, it feels like someone is stabbing me in the head. The headaches are unbelievable. My chest actually feels better today but I can barely move my head. It's everywhere back of neck eyebrows top of my head. I've taken paracetamol but not touching it. Any top tips? Many many thanks.

I find ibuprofen works better for my headaches. You can take it alongside paracetemol. Also fresh air if you can bear it, breathing in deeply. Failing that laying in a quiet dark room with an eye mask on and focusing on relaxing the whole body.

I had this post covid. Paracetamol and ibuprofen together seemed to dull it. A bath also helped keeping your temples under warm water. They have cooled down now for me but I swear it was my sinuses in pain

Cool flannel may ease it. How are you now op

I find the cooling migraine patches help. Also make sure you are sipping on plenty of liquids, stay away from blue light and try and have fresh air, even if it's just the window cracked. I also avoid cheese and chocolate when I have a headache as it seems to exacerbate it for me. Sometimes dioralyte can help.

Cool damp flannel Flowers

MrsHamlet · 03/01/2021 11:01

Codeine and frozen peas. Take one and put the other on your temples.

I get these headaches regularly (not corona, been ongoing for over a year) hot water bottle helps. And naproxen

Stillfunny · 03/01/2021 11:04

You can mix paracetamol and ibuprofen. I found lying in a warm bath with cold flannel on forehead and one on neck helped so much.

I thought ibuprofen was not advised for covid?

monkeypuzzeltree · 03/01/2021 12:50

Ibuprofen has certainly made more of a difference. As has putting a cold pack on my head. Thank you for those tips!! Feels like a little reprieve.

I feel lucky that my chest is feeling a lot better today but the headache and exhaustion and random hot coldness is pretty awful. It's easy to underestimate this thing, as an otherwise healthy and fit 44 year old I dread to think of anyone elderly or with other chest issues picking this up.

Hope others are on the mend too.

I thought at first but found out that was something that was suspected earlier last year based on a small study in France but was subsequently debunked. Worked well for me - although appreciate some people can't take it.

If you’re not drinking as much coffee/tea as you normally do, I’d try an espresso if you can manage it. One of the most common causes of headache when people are sick!

Hope you feel better soon Flowers

I find 4head sticks very effective for giving some relief, also massage around base of neck, around ears and temples. A vibrating massager (or actual vibrator) works on these areas too - for me it just seems to break up the headache pain even if only temporary it can be a relief.

Ok so cup of tea and a vibrator Grin got it.

Ha ha that made my day end better than it started!! This thread was so helpful, thank you, I literally couldn't think straight this morning. I pretty much did everything (aside from the vibe Grin)feeling better. Coughing again now. Why is it just as you think you're feeling better your temp comes back...eugh

Drinking 2 glasses of water then lying down in a darkened room helps also taking paracetomol regularly.

I suffer from chronic headaches and an ice pack always helps me. Got one from Amazon that you just fill up with ice.
