Just that...wondered if there was a link as DP has noticed problems with his eyes since he tested positive a few weeks ago

And my DP won’t be driving on a motorway to test his vision!
Have any of you mere mortals noticed any problems, you may be on an anonymous forum but I would trust your word a damn sight more than any MP or their ilk Wink

Yes DH has had blurry vision since testing positive three weeks ago. We don't whether to go for an eye test or not or just see if it settles.

AmIReallyThough · 02/01/2021 17:52

Yes. A friend of ours has had one eye affected by covid (new variant) and now needs to have an operation on his eye as a result.

Fattoushka · 02/01/2021 17:58

That’s worrying Am I’ve not heard of it as a side effect at all,
my DP is still undecided too Hairy he’s not the type to go to the GP etc iff there’s a problem so he keeps brushing it off but he can barely open his eyes by the evening, he said they’re so sore, likes he’s been up watching tv in a dark room all night

Not wanting to alarm you @Fattoushka but Michael Rosen has reported he's been left blind in one eye and deaf in one ear. Mind you, he's getting on a bit and was in ICU for quite a while so very poorly. Hope your DP is OK

HairyFloppins · 02/01/2021 18:02

That's worrying for you. DH's eyes don't hurt, he just feels like he needs new glasses. It won't hurt to get them checked OP. Covid causes so many random symptoms.

Fattoushka · 02/01/2021 18:09

Thanks all, I will show him this thread and keep onto him to go and get them checked ASAP, hopefully it’s nothing that some drops or something simple can’t solve

Is it in bad taste to suggest a test drive? North east way? Some nice market towns with castles

AlexandraEiffel · 02/01/2021 18:13

I don't know the detail, but I've a friend with problems with his eyesight including needing operations and potential sight loss and he told me it was a symptom of long covid. I've not heard of it before, although I don't read that much about long covid.

Roussette · 02/01/2021 18:14

OP, I know someone whose hearing has been affected. She's been told it is a symptom, not reported

stayathomegardener · 02/01/2021 18:17

DH had to have laser treatment to protect the sight in one eye.
My sight went really blurry but weirdly tests showed it was no worse then last years tests. It's a lot better now. We were both Marchers.

CakeQueen87 · 02/01/2021 18:22

A friend of my parents has gone blind in one eye and had to have a major op in the other one, due to complications from COVID

Fattoushka · 02/01/2021 22:13

Oh goodness, sounds very serious then, will definitely be making sure he rings to get an appointment tomorrow

This is interesting. I had an eye test today and my prescription has increased +1 since having (what I imagine was) Covid in March. It’s improved since I was poorly though.

I also had moderate hearing loss for a few months and was on the point of speaking to my GP about it, but that’s returned now.

Hasn’t imagined any of these things were connected, particularly as I wasn’t acutely poorly. I did have exhaustion for months though.

It’s a weird virus.

Gunpowder · 02/01/2021 22:26

Sorry not increased, decreased -1.

Unusual eye soreness or discomfort is one of the symptoms on the Zoe app
