I am envious.I’ve now been waiting four and a half days - more than twice as long as the test centre told me I’d have to wait, the lying gits - and everyone I’ve spoken to on the 119 helpline has bleated a variant on, “I’m just telling you what’s written down here!”
Example:
Me: “If the test centre had told me that it would be five days, not probably 24 hours and definitely within 48 hours, I might have put in an online shopping order that day”.
119: “I can’t be responsible for that”
Me: “I’ve got no fresh food in the house, I can’t go to a shop until I get a negative result and I can’t get an online shopping delivery for days. What do you suggest?”
119 : “I can’t speak as to that”
Me: “Why are the test centres, and your 119 colleagues who I spoke to yesterday and the day before, giving incorrect information about turnaround times?”
119: “I don’t know who you’ve spoken to”
Me: “I’ve just told you who I spoke to. How do I make a formal complaint?”
119: “I don’t really know who to direct you to”.
Etc etc.
Is it any surprise that people break the rules, and either don’t bother getting tested or go out shopping whilst in quarantine? I’m doing the right thing, but why make it so difficult? Why not just, you know, tell the truth so that people can plan?
