Still waiting here. Tested at Kettering drive through in East Mids. 47 hours, losing hope it will be today now. Anyone else?

@yuyubooboo thanks. It's now 74 hours for us so have been retested - they must be lost given there are two others on this thread who had results in less than 24 hours. No luck with the helpline, just says they're busy!

They won’t be lost. More likely they lied to you about when you should expect a result.

LondonFE · 02/01/2021 19:15

I agree that they are unlikely to be lost- it would seem that up to 5 days is within normal tolerance at the mo.

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 02/01/2021 19:15

I got mine back about an hour or so ago, so took approx 52 hours. Was Positive

Iamthewombat · 02/01/2021 19:23

When I booked the test, and again at the drive through test centre actually, I was asked whether I was an essential worker. I truthfully answered no. I bet the response determines how quickly your swab is tested: I’ll be firmly on the B list.

I’d like the information we’re given about turnaround times to be equally truthful.

Backbee · 02/01/2021 19:34

That's a good point actually, I did a home test and it does say whether you're an essential worker or whatever it is, I wonder if it does prioritise them. The issue is it's probably just as intensive admin wise than just doing them in order Confused

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 02/01/2021 19:36

That’s exactly it, I know the literature says up to 5 days, but when you’re going there and they tell you it will most probably be back within 24 hours and if you haven’t heard by 48 hours to chase, then that’s what you’ll do.

If they would have told me it’s taking approx 3 days I wouldn’t have been so panicking it might have been lost.

I wonder where the people at the testing centres are getting 24 hours from?

It can’t be a coincidence that they’re saying it at centres up and down the country, it must be coming from somewhere 🤷‍♀️

joeysapple · 02/01/2021 19:40

@LondonFE @LouiseBelchersBunnyEars there are two people on this thread who have been to the same test centre and received results in less than 24 hours. It's now 75 hours for us and nothing so I don't see how they can be anything other than lost.

DP is a key worker and did confirm that when booking the test.

OP posts:
LondonFE · 02/01/2021 19:45

@joeysapple being a key worker doesn't expedite the test results (I'm a key worker too)

The other tests could have been sent to a different central lab- there's honestly no rhyme or reason. I hope they come back shortly.

chickensoup23 · 02/01/2021 19:46

My husband had a test at 11am yesterday (NYD) and had a text by 9am this morning

LouiseBelchersBunnyEars · 02/01/2021 19:46

Did you retest at the same place? You should have given a second email over this time, so you can differentiate the tests/ will be interesting to see if/when the other one shows up.

joeysapple · 02/01/2021 19:52

@LouiseBelchersBunnyEars yes same place. That's a good idea, wish we had thought of that!

Take they are not bothering with t&t any more ? 5 days is nearly half the isolation period ! Wonder why the numbers are so high at the moment. Sigh
Runwayqueen · 02/01/2021 20:03

My daughter was tested at 11am yesterday (NYD) and no result yet. Exeter test site.

Backbee · 02/01/2021 20:04

there's honestly no rhyme or reason

I feel this sums it up haha.

I agree that the long turnaround renders track and trace largely ineffective.

GreyC · 02/01/2021 20:15

I tested on the 30th, heard nothing yet. Supposed to be at work Monday at school... frustrating. Going to ring tomorrow

Houseplantmad · 02/01/2021 20:20

Ours took 5 days. Tested 26th. Results evening of 31st. All Positive.

When you do, ignore the option ‘press 3 if you want to chase a test result’ and choose ‘press 4 to speak to a member of the team’. If you press 3 you’ll be fobbed off with a recorded message saying, effectively, eff off, we’re busy.

humtar · 02/01/2021 20:37

I've just got mine back after 101 hours!
Phoned today and selected the book a test option as that actually gets you through to a person (straight away), they couldn't give me results but said they'd look into it, got the results a few hours later.

PuzzledObserver · 02/01/2021 20:39

DH is tested once a week at work. No result yet from this Tuesday.... nor the one before.

He now has to isolate based on my positive test - taken at 4.30pm on 31st, result 6.30am this morning. Who’d be a key worker, eh?

Backbee · 02/01/2021 20:50

Just got mine through finally.

Thank you! Most helpful 🙏
JustDavesWife · 02/01/2021 22:07

Just got mine back after testing on the 31st in SE London. Negative result and I'm really surprised as I feel rubbish, head is banging and I'm aching all over 🤷‍♀️

LondonFE · 03/01/2021 07:04

Mine came through at 12.30 this morning; negative. 56 hours from delivery and 62 hours from posting.
