I know that is the "how long is a piece of string" question but what's everyone's thoughts?
I'm in the north east (Newcastle)
How long do you think we will be stuck like this?

Hopefully things will be better for us by Easter. Also in the North East.

@Alwaysandforeverhere, in the North East, we have been living under tight restrictions since September. I haven't seen any friends since then, apart from one friend who dropped off a few Christmas presents and we had a 15 minute chat at the gate.

Tier 4.

6-8 weeks.

I think the best we can hope for from there is a few places going back to tier 3.

So shops and gyms and leisure open.

I would suspect 4-6 months and the summer kicking in before we go back to bars/cafes being open to eat inside etc.

I know that seems very negative but I think this time they've fucked up hugely and they'll be far more cautious (so we locked down late again and opened up early).

I'd say end of February.

Until phase 1 of the vaccination program is complete.

I’m thinking Easter, but who knows 🤷🏻‍♀️

I think they'll actually tighten things further. The hospitals in London are saturated with covid patients and are needing to send them north.

That is without the lag of christmas day mixing which we won't see the admissions for for another 7-10 days.

Then primary schools going back in conjunction with a more transmissible variant means it will spread quickly through schools and back to their homes, especially in London and South East. The pressure on the hospitals will be horrendous by the end of the month and they will need to close all schools to try and get a grip.

I'm pleased they upped most places to tier 4, but it's not enough. We need a complete locksdown like March for 6 weeks hand in hand with some serious improvements in the delivery of the vaccine.

I'm amazed that the production of the vaccine wasn't done before approval so we would have had tens of millions waiting to go. The government have had months to prepare for this and are not doing anything proactive to get us out this mess.

Sorry to be a downer but I think the shit will hit the fan way worse than last year before we turn a corner. Hopefully by July/August we will have some normality back.

Have we fallen into another lockdown?

We moved from 2 to 4, so had been enjoying kids sports etc. Now I'm scared to send them to school 🙄.

RememberSelfCompassion · 01/01/2021 13:01

And if its worse than before why are schools open?!

Then add in the 58 parties last night in London - and they're just the ones that were caught Angry

Not long.
I think they'll be moving you to tier 5 soon.

maxxyboy · 01/01/2021 13:28

I'm sure the north east has lower cases than Yorkshire and they are in tier 3 now.
It's all confusing
