There's 3 house parties within sight of my house (and others as can see locals complaining in the fb page.) one member of the group called police as its their ndn to be told they had no resources unless there was violence. The same member also had similar 2 days ago.

One local Backstreet pub has a party. Their windows are boarded but it can be seen and heard. They said 1000 fine is nothing and not threat.

Dh work colleague is going to a house party tonight and did Xmas eve.

Did the government think tier 4 would stop this.
Even the local radio station today had an interview with a pub landlord and he said he knows people will party and closing pubs won't stop them.

Fwiw I'm not a curtain twitcher this was visible when I popped out for calpol for ds. And the fb has lots of curtain twitchers.. I'm just nosey

January is going to be horrific.

Nicknacky · 31/12/2020 22:19

I’m police and dayshift tomorrow (specialist department) and it will be interesting to see how the night went.

I said this on another post but both late shift and nightshift uniform are isolating as of yesterday so there was frantic emails going round trying to get staff and I doubt it was very successful......I don’t imagine many parties are being attended by police in my area tonight.

ImHereForTheEntertainment · 31/12/2020 22:22

Yes I can imagine.
On another fb page. Someone actually posted to guess how many police would be on duty tonight. So clearly rheybhave some sort of inside info. But they've advertised in a public page and I'm sure that's going to give more the green light to party.

@ImHereForTheEntertainment What were the guesses? I asked someone one night how many Cid he thought were on duty. He replied 50😂.

There were 2.

ImHereForTheEntertainment · 31/12/2020 23:22

Someone said 2 if I remember correct. Rest under 20 lol

Well report them then...

HopeAndDriftWood · 31/12/2020 23:26

To be fair, there was a lot planned near me in the Midlands; and it’s all been cancelled, it’s dead here. There’s been no traffic since 4pm, no parties, pubs are closed, takeaways had a surge around 7pm but all is pretty quiet now.
We’ve not been the best at taking the rules seriously... it was busy here for a while in lockdown 2. Our police were stern that they’d be shutting things down tonight.

Hopefully your area is one of the worst tonight... or we’re pretty screwed.

hettyhooverdoover · 01/01/2021 00:37

I've seen nothing here at all. Its deadly quiet everywhere.

Iremembertheelderlykoreanlady · 01/01/2021 00:41

I cant hear anything on my road. Other than the fireworks which I'm.assuming are from private gardens.

Yes I'm sure some people are breaking the rules, but hopefully it's not the majority or enough to make a huge difference to the numbers

FrangipaniBlue · 01/01/2021 00:45

My friend is a police call handler, she told me earlier she was going in for night shift at 7pm fully expecting her entire shift to be people reporting parties Confused

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 01/01/2021 00:48

I can't hear or see any here & there usually would be. But I've not been out the house, so it's only what I can't see or hear from the house.

Veryverycalmnow · 01/01/2021 00:50

I heard 1 firework bang. That was it! Hope most people are being sensible

HibernatingTill2030 · 01/01/2021 00:53

Well of course Tier 4 won't stop them if nothing else has so far.
The vast majority will stick to the guidelines.
All seems quiet where I am, so far- apart from the fireworks, of course!

CountessFrog · 01/01/2021 00:54

All quiet here

pinkcattydude · 01/01/2021 00:55

It’s not fair on the police, there’s not enough to police any of the things they are being asked to do. All those that applied even if they signed up at the beginning they are only starting on the beat in the next few weeks. But it’s also made worse by the rules and regulations that they have. These governments have destroyed our police force. So much so there is no one around to uphold most laws.

happinessischocolate · 01/01/2021 00:55

We've just gone from tier 2 to tier 4 and no one is having parties, my dd is 19 and all her mates are at home with their parents, no one on my fb groups has complained of parties, we must all be very well behaved 🥳

HibernatingTill2030 · 01/01/2021 01:08

I honestly believe that the partying is a very small minority of people.
My street has been fairly quiet all night until the firework business at midnight.
My friend lives in party street, and it's apparently noisy as hell- loads of kids on the street- but people staying in their own houses/gardens.

HibernatingTill2030 · 01/01/2021 01:08

By "kids on the street"- I mean living in the street, not playing in the street right this minute, to clarify!

shash1982 · 01/01/2021 01:10

No parties here. We had a zoom get together with friends, teen DD at home on a virtual call.
There were fireworks going off but it didn't sound like parties were happening so hopefully the majority were sticking to the guidelines.

PrincessNutNuts · 01/01/2021 01:30

We've got parties near us.

I didn't realise until they came out to set off the fireworks.

Wankers.

Titsywoo · 01/01/2021 01:40

I assume it's a minority. My dumb as fuck neighbour put a pic on fb saying nye party for 2 but come midnight I could clearly hear lots of voices through the wall. Lots on my road don't care. Dd was upset that some of her friends were having a sleepover and she wasn't invited (she wouldn't have gone anyway) - the parents don't believe in covid so that's fine.

Pissedoff1234 · 01/01/2021 01:51

Nobody I know is having a party that I know about although I know a few having a couple of extra households like daughters boyfriend and sons girlfriend etc.

DD1's friends are having a get together at one of their mums house. 2 girls and the girl whose house it is. DD was invited but said no.

I'm getting very confused when people are saying that tier 4 should stop mixing when it's only tier 1 that can mix. We are in tier 3 but still can't mix indoors with anyone else.

NiceGerbil · 01/01/2021 01:55

Tier 4 here North London.

No parties in hearing.

Fireworks yes but that doesn't mean a party.

Pubs all very much closed.

Bouledeneige · 01/01/2021 02:08

Tier 4 North London here too! No parties all very quiet except for the fireworks at midnight. Everyone is obeying the rules.

NiceGerbil · 01/01/2021 02:14
