Negative test but I have more symptoms?

Feeling a little anxious as I had contact with a confirmed positive case on 23rd December, fairly close contact for a significant period of time.

I developed a blocked nose and constant sneezing on 27th December.

I had a test done on 28th December which came back negative, but since I had the test done I have also developed a very bad headache, sore throat and fatigue and have spent the day in bed.

I’m just wondering if the test is likely to be a false negative/taken too early ? Not meaning to offend anyone or anything And I don’t want to have Covid; but just looking for advice or reassurance, as obviously my text says I don’t have to isolate but I don’t want to infect anyone by accident if the test might not be accurate since I did have contact with a positive case.

Thanks

My first test was negative, tested positive 4 days later. I had the same symptoms you have, and they got worse.

Probably too early my friend had a negative abd them positive a few days later

Okay thanks for the replies, I will assume I have it and see how I feel over the next couple of days and get another test if I feel it’s needed and the symptoms get worse.

@Aquamarine1029 how are you feeling now? I hope you have recovered well.

You don’t really have any of the classic covid symptoms and most people have the headache first.

If it persists, then do get tested again.

I'm doing mostly well. I had covid at the end of September, but I still have waves of not feeling great. I hope you're better soon.

I had similar symptoms too, OP after DS was in contact with a confirmed case. Went on to develop fatigue and a bad cough. Coughing fits would leave me breathless for a short while and felt my lungs had too much liquid in them. My test was also negative.
I was ok - by the way. Was just like a bad cold really and bounced back quick.

Someone else I know had symptoms after two confirmed cases literally from her household. She also tested negative.

I had symptoms the 27th, went and got tested and it was negative. I still felt rotten the 28th so went to get a second test (29th) and that one was positive. Definitely go and get a second test.

I haven't been in contacted with any confirmed, or suspected cases either.

Really similar symptoms and I also lost my sense of taste. Tested negative
