Interesting read - thanks

That's very interesting and very damning of the response to Covid19.

Spiratedaway · 31/12/2020 16:15

Thanks for this going to read later I am petrified again !

Lockdownshmockdown · 31/12/2020 16:21

@Spiratedaway

Please do take the time to read. It is a shame how many people are struggling with anxiety through this. My nerves are shot even though I look at the pandemic and the reporting of it through a very sceptical and pragmatic lens. It seems impossible not to be affected by it whichever stance you take.

This is why I dont participate in any national testing since I dont trust the facts and figures we are bombarded with daily. I have been written to twice and although I do take the pandemic seriously I recycle any letters I am sent. I just dont trust the tests and the reporting enough.

Lockdownshmockdown · 31/12/2020 16:46

@Manzanilla55

I completely agree. I’m trying to figure out how we got here. Are we so starved of risk and danger in our sanitised lives that this reaction was inevitable?

I see so many people comparing the pandemic to “the war”. I think people enjoy the idea of everyone pulling together for some common cause. Or perhaps their lives are just so risk averse that there is a sort of giddy perverse thrill in the doom and gloom of it all.

I wonder how we will look back on it all with hindsight.

I dont know why we are still including all deaths that had corona. I thought the government had stopped this. Since I dont believe in Agenda 21 and other conspiracy theories it is baffling as to why we are still being fed distorted information.

MushMonster · 31/12/2020 16:52

He is not the only doctor to side on treating the illness, not the virus. It is the second I read here.
Then, there are plenty of others saying hospitals are too full, and they cannot cope.
So, the outcome keeps being the same.... more miserable days ahead.

Very good article.

Great article. I've been fairly relaxed to be honest as I don't think panicking helps anything. I like reading balanced articles.

Crumpetycrump · 31/12/2020 17:13

Not doing much testing in the USA is going very well isn’t it?
Our NHS is becoming overwhelmed with much worse to come as a result of the Christmas mixing and the new strain. I just hope we can get the vaccine vaccine rolled out quickly as that is the only way out that I can see.

InglouriousBasterd · 31/12/2020 17:27

I enjoyed reading that OP we need more balanced views from reputable sources I think. We have just been offered lateral flow testing, I work in community nursing and have never had a test yet mainly because we are short staffed as it is and if a few of us test positive, even without symptoms, we would need to isolate leaving the team up the creek yet suddenly we are being offered this testing? It’s voluntary but would still leave us in the same predicament? We need to stop this mass testing of people with no symptoms personally

I completely agree with what you say about the problems of testing without symptoms. Your approach is sensible. Please share the article far and wide. He is not the only health care professional speaking out and we do need to share more articles like this to counteract the hysteria.

I was just googling what the leading world epediomologists are saying and it is that many middle income countries are on their knees no hospital space no oxygen, that the new mutant uk strain is expected to spread very fast in the coming months and that we now know what we need to do and fast - stop the spread. And then i come upon this thread and this article. The article misses out all the most recent information, and does not even mention long covid I don't think. I think the vaccines and good science will get us out of this mess and I don't want anyone to feel overwhelmed with anxiety - we will come through. But this article is not a good read or well informed I don't think.
