Self isolation

Can someone please help me work out how long I should self isolate please . My DC went to their dad on Christmas Day and came back Boxing Day but I was told yesterday that someone in that household has tested positive. When do we start isolating and for how long?

Neither me or DC have any symptoms and feel well.

Thank you

DC it's 10 days since the last day of potential exposure, so from Boxing Day.

You are an indirect contact, so not required to isolate - but
a) you need to reduce contact with the isolating DC as far as possible (and with younger DC that's not terribly possible at all) and increase household hygiene (cleaning high-touch surfaces, opening windows, not snuggling up), and
b) being aware that if either of them does have it, then you are at risk and a risk to others, so do the right thing and reduce your contact with non-household people, and that which you really cannot avoid should be done with diligent social distancing

It depends when the affected person started symptoms. But if unsure then Boxing Day plus 10 days.
